To the fore are King and Queen Sculptures by Ronan Halpin

Location: Trim Ring Road

The artist was inspired by the mythological site at nearby Tara, traditionally the seat of the High Kings of Ireland. The Hill of Tara was central to the political and pagan life of the Celts. The nearby castle at Trim was also visited by the kings of England. The bronze sculptures stand on the roadside and the nearby trees and vegetation have grown and regularly threaten to cover them

As Samhain nears its end, join us at the Fairgreen in Athboy at 5pm, October 31st for the Púca Festival closing ceremony ‘An Lasadh Suas’.🌙

Watch as we kindle a ceremonial fire at Tlachtga, marking Halloween night's arrival.🔥

The ancestral flame will be carried down from the Hill of Ward at 5.15pm, with Damien Dempsey, Siobhan de Paor and Ronan O Snodaigh.

Festivalgoers will gather at the fairgreen to enjoy local lore coinciding with the procession, with sean nós singing and Samhain storytelling by Candlelit Tales as we await the flame’s arrival.🕯️

At 6pm, Damien Dempsey will light the heart of this spectacle, the 'Lasadh Suas' sculpture adorned with your ancestral messages. Encircling it are fire sculptures representing Tara, Loughcrew, Tailteann, and Uisneach. Each will illuminate with stories connecting us to our local heritage.🍂
Kíla and Pyro Collective will bring the ceremony to a close, finishing at 8pm.

Please be aware the land in Athboy will be impacted by the rain, dress suitably for wet weather and be mindful of issues with visibility, muddy conditions underfoot, and general care.

Traffic through the town will be diverted with directional arrows and staff due to road closures, please note the Athboy church carpark will be in use.

The Athboy Craft Market will be serving tea, coffee, food and crafts at the Fairgreen until 9pm.🌟

Those looking to keep the Púca spirit alive can venture into the Samhain Circus at 9pm, tickets are available at pucafestival.com.🎟️
We hope to see you all there for our final night of Púca Festival celebrations!✨✨

An evening not to be missed👻💀☠️🎃

Immerse yourself in the tale of the veil between worlds at our brand-new opening procession for 2023 - 'Samhain Night Between The Years’.🌙✨

Join us in Trim on Saturday, 28th October 2023, commencing at Jonathan Swift street for an unforgettable blend of outdoor theatre, street performance, and traditional music with a theme of wild nature, mischief, and celebration.🍂🌟🔥

As daylight surrenders to night, the veil between realms thins, allowing glimpses of otherworldly spirits and shape-shifters as they journey through the very heart of Halloween's birthplace.🎃

The procession will weave through the streets trim, accompanied by local Meath musicians, who’s melodies and chorus of voices will lead you into the mystical realm.🌀🎶

We invite all spectators to join the enchantment by donning disguises sourced from local nature and bringing along hag stones – stones naturally adorned with holes that allow you to glimpse mystical creatures. Discover who among us is Púca and who is not.

Following this procession, the celebration continues at the Barbican Gate of Trim Castle. Aindrias De Staic will greet you with 'A Story of Samhain,' a performance that delves deeper into the festival's origins. And don't miss the return of the ever-popular Pyro Collective, who will light up the night with a breathtaking fire display that will leave you in awe.🔥🔥
