The Reimagine Tuam Hometown Architect Project, funded by the Irish Architecture Foundation, is a collaborative team of architects’ designers, and artists.

The project ambition is to bring the community of Tuam together to address the issue of vacant and derelict buildings within the town centre.

The team have prepared a Reimagine Tuam Town Survey and would like to get feedback from as many people as possible: your contribution will help inform the study, identifying opportunities and challenges in the town and lay foundations for meaningful actions that will transform Tuam town centre from ‘vacant to vibrant’.

You are welcome to fill in the online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ReImagineTuamTownSurvey

Hardcopy survey forms are available at Tuam Town Library for those who are unable to complete the survey online. The Survey is open until September 12th.

There will be a candle lit vigil on next Friday February 24th at 6pm in the Square to mark one year since Russia invaded Ukraine. In the face of Russian aggression against European democracy and freedom and the contention of an anti-immigration group, we are hoping the people of Tuam come and make a statement at this event

Despite all the ballyhoo and rhetoric on one or two FB posts, Tuam will show humanity and understanding for those in need of support and a temporary safe place and will welcome people of all persuasions and nationalities who come to work and help build a prosperous and culturally diverse town. We've come a long way from some dark places and we ain't going Ballymacbackwards.

Voices of Tuam is one of our events that we are most proud of !! In fact we are super proud of all our events but this is something unique & special!! An intimate and safe space where established & respected ''voices'' of Tuam blend togehter with those emerging ''voices'' we are garnering love & respect for!!

You just gotta come along and ''feel'' it for yourself!! This year you will find us in The Abbey from 7pm til 9pm on Sunday 8th May.

Adding to the magic this year is the fact we received CSS Cultural Development- Arts Act funding from the Galway County Council

With their financial support we can commision fabulous artists like Jojo Hynes who we think is one of Ireland's most talented artists, performers & collaborators!! Most of ye will recognise Jojo from Earwig or Macnas but we will always know Jojo for her beautiful smile, bountiful energy & effortless artistic skill & imagination. We love her illustration of Tuam's iconic Town Hall for our ''Voices of Tuam'' event. If you come along on Sunday and share your poem or song you get to take away your own copy of Jojo's illustration on our souvenir postcard.

The Palace Grounds has been awarded its first ever Green Flag for Parks with a very high mark 75 - 79%. That was achieved through the presentation of a Management Plan and by the visit of an Adjudicator on site. We have to thank Paul Connolly Tuam Town Engineer and Anna Paula Moreira who an NUIG undergraduate in Soil Science and some help from myself Michael Waldron for the Management Plan and for attending the adjudication process. We also have to thank the many silent volunteers who help to keep our park clean and safe especially on weekends. Of course the park could not exist without the diligence of the Galway County Council Scheme who patrol and maintain it.
We hope to have a ceremony in the near future flying our new flag on its specially erected flagpole adjacent to the Children’s Playground
