New business shout out 😊

Everyone deserves a bit of pampering now and again, and today it was Flynn's turn at the newly opened in Delgany Village, where Lucy worked her magic and sent him home feeling fragrant, fluffy, silky and special. Her purpose-built grooming parlour is fantastic, and flynn was so relaxed throughout his grooming session. The two cousins are all set up , the sun is shining and the tunes are on. In Maeve's collection today you'll find fabric gift bags (selling fast!), woolly hat decorations, mini wreaths, fabric trees, scrunchies, jar grips, bird feeders and a selection of 3d decorations and key rings courtesy of her brother.

Lara is running a wreath decorating workshop in the same room. Come on in and say hi! Free sweets til stocks last 😋

NEW BUSINESS SHOUT OUT!!!!!!!

In big shouty letters, as this is a brand new business - Day 1 for Entrepreneur Maeve who has a stand of decorations handmade with love...woolly hats, fabric trees, reindeer, jar grip mats, Christmas wreaths, scrunchies and a few other surprises. More stock will be added throughout the month of December. If today is anything to go by she will be very busy replenishing stock! Luckily she has been getting help from the Gobbies (more to come about these wonderful woodland creatures). Maeve will be there in person on Saturdays and Sundays until Christmas. You can find her in the shed, right next to where you can get your coffee fix from Cafe Pico. Oh and you can also get your Christmas Tree here too.

New Business shout out!!!

Cafe Pico, Vevay Rd, Bray. Gorgeous little coffee shop just opened. Delicious coffees, hot chocolate and a lovely selection of cakes and treats, with talk of more savoury choices added when the new kitchen is completed.

Ideal to grab a coffee on the go, or stay for a game of chess or a chat with the friendly staff. The adorable Milly will watch quietly, but willing to shower you with affection if you ask her 🥰🐕

Family day out suggestion..

Impromptu visit to today. Pulled into the gateway just to turn around, ended up going in for a full irish breakfast after the big rugby match of the weekend (U12 girls 💪), ended up doing a tour of the whole park. A great display of life in ireland over the different ages. Falconry and adventure playground onsite too.The cafe was lovely, with plenty of free parking. Will definitely call in again for a snack when passing that way - turn right just after the Ferrycarrig hotel.

Happy to be back on the bike again, taking part in run by Cycling Ulster Womens Commission in Tollymore. Great spin on the trails in the morning with Ciara McManus, followed by a coaching session with , and finishing off with some strengthening and stretching with . I was very lucky to be introduced to the very talented recently, who gave myself and Maeve a full tour of her studio, spending a few hours showing us her fabulous designs, answering all our questions in an open and most inspiring way. The craftsmanship and feel of each piece is hard to convey in a photo but I honestly haven't stopped thinking about them since. Dropped M's swimming tracksuit legs into yesterday evening, and got a call to say they were ready this morning 🤩. The zips didn't come all the way up the legs, and the top part had no give. So now the super easy open zips come all the way to the top and will make getting dressed and warmed up after a sea swim so much quicker. Lovely job.

It was supposed to be a post about Tayto Park, but it appears you need to book earlier than expected 😬, so we diverted into the big smoke to see the new which has only just opened on Grafton Street

For any enthusiasts planning a visit, they are operating a wristband system with no prebooking possible. Go to the door to get the next available time slot, then return at the given time. We had 2 hours to kill before we could go in, but others had much longer. Lots of upset kids being turned away so forewarned is forearmed!

Arigna Mining Experience, Co. Roscommon

Coal was mined here from 1700's up to 1990. Guided tours through sections of the mine are led by men who used to work the mines, and they give you a first hand fascinating insight into what was clearly a very tough life, talking not only of the conditions and hardship they endured, but the camaraderie and respect they had for each other. Very interesting tour and gives a real genuine sense of what it was like.

This experience was recommended to us by the lovely Lucy on . We had a tour of the lake, hearing about the history of all the islands and life in Rockingham House in years gone by.

Spent the morning at 'Beyond the trees' in Avondale this morning. What a fantastic addition to the county. It's the longest treetop walk in Ireland and the UK (1.3km) and is fully accessible for buggies, wheelchairs and people with reduced mobility, with plenty of opportunities to stop along the way, checking out their interactive boards and sensory options en route.

The tower at the end is 38m high, and after you climb to the top you can take the slide to the bottom. I was very glad there wasn't a camera inside as I was grinning from ear to ear coming down 😁.

The gift shop at the bottom has lovely stuff, including Ice cream and coffee, and toilets beside the tower too, and near the entrance is a lovely coffee shop and playground in the walled garden. Well done to all involved in making this happen, we were glad to get in before the summer rush but we'll definitely be back.

I've previously posted about their sister company which I also highly recommend.

Our Story

Built in the 1800’s, originally as a grain store for the accompanying stone farm yard, this beautiful barn had taken on many different purposes over the years before the upper level was lovingly renovated into the cosy, comfortable home from home it is today.

The private garden to the rear of the barn was the original ‘haggard’, where grain would have been stacked and threshed, before being stored in the loft for future use. What remains is a beautifully spacious garden and patio area, with ample parking right up to the door.

Set in the centre of a tillage farm, it is surrounded by fields and forestry so ideal for a stroll before dinner to stretch your legs, or take in the beautiful views we have on offer with the mountains on one side, and the sea on the other. Keep an eye out for wildlife as we have deer, foxes and badgers on the farm along with an overabundance of bunnies! Looking up, you will regularly spot birds of prey, including red kites which have been appearing on a more frequent basis of late. This is the ideal place to shut yourselves away from the stresses of modern life, or simply as a base for your adventure, exploring all the wondeful things Wicklow has to offer.

We began restoring the farmhouse and adjoining stone yard almost four years ago, and while it is still an ongoing process we are constantly trying to upgrade and restore this little haven in The Garden County, whilst maintaining as much of its original charm as possible.
