Sidreh / Lakiya Weaving

Sidreh, located in the Bedouin town of Lakiya in Southern Israel, helps local women on two fronts. The first is social entrepreneurship - through the teaching of weaving skills Sidreh creates artful traditional woven goods: pillows, bags, rugs and more. The income used from this is used to help support the most underprivileged segment of society in Israel, primarily by providing literacy training

to adult Bedouin women as well as providing them with a small income. Sidreh is one of the few NGOs to work in both Recognized and Unrecognized Bedouin villages in the Negev (Naqab). In addition Sidreh publishes the regions first Arabic online-newspaper highlighting issues faced by women in the area.
