Humayun Gate

Humayun Gate Purana Qila, believed to be built on the ruins of ancient city built by Pandvas, "Indraprastha" has three gates. Bara Gate, Talaqi darwaja and Humayun Gate

Bara Gate, Talaqi darwaja and Humayun Darwaja. The southern entry to Purana Qila is through "Humayun Darwaja". Today only Bara Gate is used for the entry into Purana Qila. The magnificent structure of Humyun darwaja is today used by Delhi Tourism to showcase "Eshq-e-delhi" an hour long, light and sound show encompassing the history of Delhi. On the walls of Humatyun Darwaja, the poetry of Khusroo,

the prayers at Nijammudin Allauiya, the gazals of Ghalib all become alive along with the grandeur of Pandvas and Rani Draupadi. Very beautifully, "Eshq-e-delhi" takes us from one century to other describing the how so many different people inhabited this ancient place and how it has witnessed so many destructions starting from the great "Mahabharata war" to the first Indian freedom struggle of 1857. Seeing this one is left marveling at the fact that despite so much destruction, how Delhi still manages to not only exist but exist magnificently even today as the heart of India. Salute to its living spirit.
