Although small in number, Bactrian camels or double hu**ed camels can be found in Ladakh's Nubra Valley. This animal is very unique to this part of India given that its situated at a very high altitude. These camels are particularly known for their high tolerance to cold and drought conditions. The Bactrian camels were used as pack animals since ancient times as they served as travel caravans.

This month-long festival of chariot procession for rain god Macchindranath takes place in Nepal every year. According to a legend, Lichhavi king Narendra Dev brought this idol of Macchindranath from Assam in India to save his country from drought. The huge chariot with a long wooden edifice stands at about 20 m height and houses numerous reincarnations of Rato Machhindranath and other Hindu deities
