🐘Adjacent to the Humayun's Tomb, lies Bagh-e-Azeem, now popularly known as Sunder Nursery. It was built in the sixteenth century by the Mughals.

I have been to Humayun's Tomb but couldn't get time to visit this beautiful place, which lies just next to it. It is on my bucket list currently and I hope to take out time and visit the place soon.

It is a part of the larger Nizamuddin Urban Renewal project and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It includes fifteen heritage monuments, like Sunderwala Mahal and Lakharwala Gumbad and so on. It lies on the Mughal era Grand Trunk Road and is a must visit if you want to spend some quality time with peace in Delhi.

🐘 On the shores of the Bay of Bengal, bathed in the rays of the rising sun, the temple at Konarak is a monumental representation of the sun god Surya's chariot; its 24 wheels are decorated with symbolic designs and it is led by a team of six horses. 🐘An architectural masterpiece awaits your visit at the Vivekananda Rock in the Kanyakumari Beach of Tamil Nadu.

About 500 metres off the Vavathurai mainland, the memorial stands on one of the two rocks, as an icon of the teachings of unity proposed by Swami Vivekananda.

🐘 Shor Temple, Mahabalipuram

Temple by the Sea….

Daybreak on the Coromandel Coast paints the ancient temple of a bygone era in a golden hue.

These are some of the earliest surviving structural – as against rock cut – temples in India dating to early 8th century CE and built between 700 -728 CE. Overlooking the shore of Bay of Bengal along the Coromandel Coast at Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram, these granite structures are a product of the Pallava dynasty and built during Narasimhavaraman II.

Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mahabalipuram has a hoary past traceable to the earliest times of the first millennium. There is reference to it in the Periplus of the Erythraean Sea authored by an unknown Greek in the first century. Ptolemy refers to it as Malange while there is a reference to it by the Chinese traveller Hiuen Tsang of the 7th century.

Fast forward to the modern times and European mariners who landed on the coast called it the Seven Pagodas (akin to Black Pagoda for the Sun Temple at Konark) perhaps alluding to a series of temples that stood on the coast and could be seen from the sea. But it is believed that these temples have been submerged by sea. The recovery of artefacts - believed to be vestiges of an old temple - after the 2004 tsunami, lends credence to this belief.
