एक हदीस में आता है कि शब-ए-बरात की रात नबी मुहम्मद साहब ने मदीने की कब्रिस्तान में जाकर पूर्वजों के लिए बक्शीश की दुआ मांगी थी। इस रात में खुदा फरमाता है कि है कोई बक्शीश मांगने वाला, है कोई रोजी मांगने वाला जिसको मैं रोजी दे सकूं।

क्या कोई मुसीबत जदा है, जिसको मैं मुसीबत से दूर कर दूं। जब बंदा अपने गुनाहों के लिए रोता है और आइन्दा गुनाह न करने की कसम खाता है। तब अल्लाहतआला उसके सब गुनाह माफ कर देते हैं। वहीं जो लोग इस रात को सो कर गुजार देते हैं और इबादत नहीं करते हैं। वह मगफिरत से महरूम हो जाते हैं।
