The Dusky Warbler (Phylloscopus fuscatus) is a tiny migratory warbler bird that breeds in the taiga of Siberia and migrates to South Asia and Southeast Asia during winter. Adult Dusky Warblers display an unmarked brown back and buff-colored underparts, along with a prominent whitish supercilium and a fine, pointed bill. Similar to many warblers, both sexes look alike, but juvenile birds tend to have a more pronounced olive tint on their upper parts.

The Ruddy Shelducks are widespread winter visitors in the plains of India. Scientifically known as tadorna ferruginea this gooselike duck species has a very vibrant plumage. Native to a vast geographical range spanning Europe, Asia, and North Africa in India they could be seen in wetland habitats, including lakes, rivers, and marshes. Ruddy Shelduck is characterized by their distinctive rust-red plumage, contrasting with a white head and chest, and black flight feathers. It exhibits pronounced sexual dimorphism, with males generally larger than females. Renowned for their loud, trumpeting calls, Ruddy Shelducks is a social species and often form pairs during the breeding season.

This Sunday I went birding to Surajpur Wetlands (Greater Noida) after some time with my more regular birding companions . This birding season looks promising – waterfowls are arriving in good numbers. We recorded 83 species of birds of which highlights were Mustached Warbler, Streaked Weaver, Grey Wagtail, Common Hawk Cuckoo, four Black-shoulder Kites together (and their courtship later), and almost 20 Common Snipes.

Galtaji, situated 10 km from Jaipur, is a revered Hindu pilgrimage site renowned for the ancient Galtaji Temple complex. Nestled amidst the Aravalli Hills, it's also known as the Monkey Temple due to the countless resident monkeys.
