Meaning of a successful life by His Holiness the Dalai Lama
When life tries to teach you something, it often does so through synchronicities or "coincidences". In this way the seeking mind is stimulated to pay attention. Recently, I was struck with inspiration when I was reading a certain section (quoted below) from "Vedanta: The first star in the evening" by Osho.
"When you exist for someone, you exist for the first time. And if your existence becomes a service to many, it becomes richer. When you only exist for yourself, you exist uselessly; there is no significance, no meaning. The moment you start existing for someone, your existence becomes meaningful, significant, for the first time. That is the meaning of service. But that service can be based only on the heart; it cannot be based on thought."
Today, again, inspiration struck me when a friend sent me a video of His Holiness the Dalai Lama speaking about the very same subject.
