Tanot Rai Mata Temple is at a distance of 150 km from Jaisalmer, and barely 20 km from the India-Pak border. This unique temple is maintained by the BSF and is open only to Indian nationals for Darshan or visit. During the 1965 India-Pakistan war, around 3000 bombs/ shells were targeted at this temple but none could cause any damage, in fact, those bombs did not even explode. Dedicated to a black representation of Lord Vishnu, known as Sakshi Gopal or Gadadhar or Shamalaji, this ancient temple stands on the banks of Meshwo river in the Aravalli district of Gujarat.
