HOW TO PLAN A TRIP TO AHARBAL

Planning any trip requires information about that place, is that place worth, Aharbal is a must visit place in Kashmir. Aharbal lies in South Kashmir and mainly tourists reach Srinagar by air or by road. So you need to ride south from Srinagar.

Aharbal is for many a one day trip, so it totally depends on you whether you want to stay for a night or return back. If you are a trekker then you will have to stay at Aharbal, then start trekking from Aharbal. Aharbal Development Authority, responsible for development in Aharbal, has built tourist infrastructure including huts and a cafeteria here. Besides, lodging and boarding facilities are also available.

You can rent a taxi from anywhere in Srinagar or share a cab(locally known as Sumo service).

RENTING PRIVATE CAB

You can rent private cab from anywhere in Kashmir. Renting a private cab from Srinagar would cost you about 2000-3000 Rs for a round trip. Cost depends on type of Cab you select, and prices vary often.

SHARED CAB

Also known as Sumo. You can share a cab from Srinagar to Shopian directly and then from Shopian to Aharbal (or) from Srinagar to Kulgam, and then from Kulgam to Aharbal. It will cost you less as compared to renting a private cab, but making a round trip back would not be easy.

There is no direct bus service to Aharbal from Srinagar

ROUTES

Aharbal is easily accessible from Srinagar and lies eight 8 km left of the Mughal Road that connects Srinagar and Poonch. It takes about 2 hours by car or bus via Pulwama and Shopian to reach there. It is 18 km south of Shopian town and 28 km west of Kulgam.

Nund Kol Lake

The Nundkol Lake or Nund Kol also known as Nandi Kund and Kalodaka Lake is an oligotrophic alpine lake situated in Ganderbal district of the Kashmir Valley in Jammu and Kashmir, India.This lake is considered sacred by Hindus. The lake was originally called Nandi Kund meaning (Lake of Nandi). The term "Nundkol" also means Lake of Nandi. Nandi is the bull vahana of the Hindu god Shiva.According to a legend, Nandi was born as son of sage Shilad, who performed a great penance near this lake. Upon penance of Shilad, Lord Shiva took his permanent abode thereby. The inner blue color of lake is believed to mark presence of Shiva while the outer light green portion of lake is supposed to mark the presence of Nandi. Shiva is also worshipped with the name Nandisa there.

The Nundkol Lake is accessible only during the summer; during the winter, the treks are closed because of the heavy snowfall. It can be reached from Srinagar, via a 65 km motorable road which leads through Ganderbal and Wayil to the Naranag trekking camp. The alpine meadows of Trunakhul and Badpathri lies at the halfway point of this two-day trek to the lake. An alternate trek starts from Chattergul village, 10 km to the west of Naranag which leads through the meadows of Mahlish. The lake can also be accessed through Bandipora and the five-day trekking starting point is Arin. Tourists prefer Naranag trek and return via Gadsar Lake, Vishansar Lake and Sonamarg to cover most alpine lakes of the area.

Ratti Gali Lake

Ratti Gali Lake is an alpine glacial lake which is located in Neelum Valley,In POK. The lake is located at an altitude of 3,683 metres. The lake is fed by the surrounding glacier waters of the mountains.

Ratti Gali Lake is one of the highest situated lakes in the world. The fascinating lake is situated in the heart of snow-peaked mountains and is fed by the melting glaciers of Karakoram peaks. It is known as Ratti Gali for its red-shaded slopes and surrounding plateaus. The lake is also known as the Dowarian lake by the locals.

The season's first snowfall was recorded in multiple district of Kashmir😍😍

The towns of Sonmarg and Gulmarg in Jammu & Kashmir turned white as the region received its first snowfall of the winter season in the wee hours of Thursday, October 20. Snowfall has also been reported in the Gurez Valley, located in the higher reaches of the Himalayas.

Meanwhile, Mughal Road, which provides an alternative route into the Kashmir valley from the Jammu-Srinagar highway, was also closed due to heavy snowfall during the intervening night.

Most parts of the Kashmir valley including Srinagar experienced late night rainfall resulting in drop in temperature. However, the sun appears with pleasant weather conditions prevailing in the valley on Sunday.

The Hazratbal Shrine , popularly called Dargah Sharif ("the Holy Shrine"), is a Muslim shrine located in Hazratbal locality of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It contains a relic, Moi-e-Muqqadas, which is widely believed to be the hair of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.It is situated on the northern bank of the Dal Lake in Srinagar, and is considered to be Kashmir's holiest Muslim shrine.

The original building of the shrine was constructed in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan’s subedar Sadiq Khan. The palatial building was known as Ishrat Jahan (or the pleasure house). In 1634, the emperor ordered the building to be converted into a prayer hall.

Night temperature rises above freezing point in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Minimum temperature rose above the freezing point in J&K's Srinagar city on Wednesday due to nightlong cloud cover.

"Minimum temperature was 0.3 degrees Celsius in Srinagar today while it was minus 2.0 in Pahalgam and zero in Gulmarg. "Drass town had minus 8.7, Leh had minus 8.3 and Kargil minus 5.8 as the night's lowest temperature. "Jammu city had 10.2, Katra 8.8, Batote 5.2, Banihal 1.2 and Bhaderwah 2.6 as the minimum temperature".
