Muhammed Shihad, Director of City Heritage, visited Darul Hasanat Campus in Kattamapally, invited by the students of the Department of Civilization Studies.

He was impressed by the amazing wall paintings done by the students, showcasing the theme of Heritage Architecture and historical buildings in Kannur.

Shihad interacted with the students, sharing insights about upcoming projects and ongoing programs on heritage preservation and conservation.

The students were enthusiastic and engaged, eager to learn from his expertise.

We recently concluded our Storytelling Experience in Kannur, led by Shihad, and what an incredible journey it was!

As part of our specially curated walk in Mappila Bay, we had the pleasure of hosting the young and dynamic team from Arpo, Kozhikode - Sruthin Shamil and Dheeraj. .in .in

Together, we shared stories of the city, passed down through generations, and how our platform is evolving with new experiments every day.

The walk was filled with laughter, ideas, and a sense of community. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and share our passion for storytelling.

City Heritage & Cafe ROBA: A Delicious Journey Through Iftar Experience and Culinary Stories!

Last Friday, City Heritage partnered with Cafe Roba for a truly unforgettable Iftar experience in Kannur City! ✨

This unique gathering wasn't just about breaking the fast with delicious food. We embarked on a culinary adventure, exploring the stories behind traditional recipes and the historical trade routes that shaped them. ️

Our focus was on Mappila cuisine, a vibrant tapestry woven from centuries of maritime trade. We learned how spices, ingredients, and cooking techniques traveled along these routes, connecting the Malabar Coast with Arab, Persian, European, and Turkish cultures.

Participants were amazed by the fascinating connections and enjoyed lively discussions about the food's cultural significance. The feedback on the recipes was overwhelmingly positive!

Ramadan Night Stories & Walk! at Kannur City ✨

City Heritage was honored to host a special Ramadan Night Heritage Walk for a distinguished guest, Rupesh Kumar, CEO of the Responsible Tourism Mission, Kerala, along with his family, Mrs. Preetha G. Panikkar and Gourilakshmi. K.Rupeshkumar

Our Director, Shihad, and Haris EV, the Kerala Homestay Association District President guided them on a fascinating 2-hour journey through the heart of Kannur city.

The walk unfolded stories of architectural marvels like the Arakkal Heritage Buildings and historical sites like the Mappila Bay Moideenpalli and freedom fighter inscriptions.

They also explored the serene Syed Moula Maqbara, the city's Juma Masjid, and concluded the walk at the anti-colonial martyrs' burial ground, paying their respects to the heroes of the past.

Their lens beautifully showcased the powerful Theyyam performances, the awe-inspiring Kalaripayattu display with the incredible support of Dineshan Gurukkal and Payyampalli Kalari Sanagam (special thanks to Haneesh and Akarsh for making the Kalaripayattu segment a reality!), and the electrifying Kambala races from the Mangalore region.

Enhancing our understanding of Kannur's rich heritage! ️

Recently, students from PMSA Wafy College, Kattilangadi, visited Kannur as part of their studies, exploring the city's historical mosques. During their visit, we had an opportunity and the privilege of meeting with them, also having an insightful discussion.

The engaging interaction focused on Kannur's architectural heritage, delving into the significance of these vintage structures like:

It was an honor to share our 7-year journey of telling stories and celebrating Malabar's rich heritage with these bright young minds. ️
