Life in the Munnar tea hills is characterized by the serene beauty of lush green tea plantations nestled amidst the picturesque Western Ghats in Kerala, India. People living in this region, predominantly tea estate workers and their families, are intimately connected to the rhythms of nature and the demands of plantation life.

These communities often live in simple housing provided by the tea estates, known as "quarters," which are typically basic but functional. Many residents have generations of familial ties to the tea estates, with their livelihoods dependent on working in the tea gardens. The work is demanding, involving tasks such as plucking tea leaves, pruning, and maintenance of the plantation.
