Here I present to you "STREETS OF UZBEKISTAN"..

The footage you see was shot across 4 different cities in Uzbekistan namely
Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva...

95% of these shots were all run and gun while the remaining few were staged (where I could communicate in English and direct them to pose/walk in a certain manner)..

I carried my gimbal along to get stabilised professional looking shots..

However for someone on a tight schedule and visiting multiple locations within a few hours, it is a pain to set up the gimbal every time or keep the camera mounted on it while using public transport...

Hence, there are many shots which are handheld (market area, inside metros, dance festival coverage etc.). The active stabilisation on Sony cameras is a life saver in such situations...

Coming to the audio, it is a mix of 3 separate music tracks (no copyright) having a slight Middle Eastern and Arabic touch to it with tons of SFX externally added to make the music more wholesome...

Finally I tried to create some special effects (painting glow) and creative transitions (metro segment) to add a bit of diversity in editing...

“Gurez doesn’t really know whether it wants to be a Ladakh or a Kashmir. It doesn’t really know if it wants to be barren and bare, or lush and green. It is confused if it wants to be a rugged alpha male or a pretty girl. So it decided ‘why choose, when I can be both Ladakh and Kashmir.”

"Gurez is, to put it simply, surreal. Cast your eye in one direction and you see tall brown mountains. Look over to the other side and you see green meadows, a river snaking through and houses dotted red and brown on the landscape. You will see snow capped peaks in the distance, a river that mysteriously changes colour from blue to grey, sunsets that render the sky gold and pink, flowers that spring wildly orange, white and yellow. Gurez is like a painting, and its fitting that its one of the remotest parts of the country – for one should really have to go some distance to see something beautiful”
