Kruger National Park has a rich and complex history, dating back to the late 1800s. Here's a brief overview:

In 1895, the government of the South African Republic (also known as the Transvaal) established the Sabi Game Reserve, which covered an area of approximately 5,000 square kilometres. The purpose of the reserve was to protect the wildlife in the area, which was being hunted by European settlers and local tribes.

In 1898, the Sabi Game Reserve was expanded and renamed the Kruger National Park, in honour of Paul Kruger, the president of the South African Republic at the time.

During the early 1900s, the park faced various challenges, including outbreaks of disease among wildlife and pressure from hunting interests. In 1912, the government of the newly-formed Union of South Africa took over management of the park.

Over the next several decades, the park expanded further, with new areas being added and management practices evolving to focus more on conservation and tourism.

During the apartheid era, Kruger National Park was largely off-limits to black South Africans, who were only allowed to visit designated areas of the park. This changed after the end of apartheid in 1994, when the park became more accessible to all South Africans.

In recent years, the park has faced new challenges, including poaching and habitat loss. Efforts to address these challenges have included increased anti-poaching patrols, community outreach programs, and research to better understand and protect the park's ecosystems.

Today, Kruger National Park is a popular destination for wildlife enthusiasts from around the world, and it remains an important site for conservation and research in South Africa.
