CHORTEN.

A chorten or a stupa is a Buddhist monument symbolizing the presence of Buddha.
The shape of chorten represents a buddha sitting in a meditating posture with a crown. The crown represents twin symbol representing unity between the sun and the moon.
There are eight different types of chorten with different shapes each representing a different event in the life of Buddha.
Chortens can be found in plenty in Sikkim and going round the chorten in a clockwise manner is believed to be an act of high merit.

Respect the chorten by not littering, not sitting on the chorten and not spitting on the chorten. If time permits make few rounds of the chorten in clockwise manner.
