Wild Fig Bungalow is our treasured home, which we are happy to share on week-ends with like-minded guests. If you are ready to trade these 21st century essentials for a spectacular location, ecologically responsible property, and personal hospitality - within a comfortable drive of Mumbai or Pune - Wild Fig Bungalow is for you. Our guests wake up to the call of birds, often peacocks, and sip hot t
ea on the east-facing verandah, watching the Sun rise from behind the hills and illuminate the lake. Breakfast and lunch are also served on the verandah, which overlooks the Western Ghats on one side and the lovely Thokarwadi Lake on the other. A leisurely morning walk can be taken to one of several vantage points which overlook the Konkan plains, 2200 ft below. For the more energetic, there is the option of hiking trails up the surrounding hills. Dhak Fort and Bharavi are full-day round trip treks which can also be arranged. Our guests are encouraged to spend the day relaxing around the property. We have plenty of books of all types, and are always happy to provide a refreshing drink throughout the day. We love seeing the sunbirds flit from flower to flower at noon. For an afternoon nap, our favourite location is under a large mango tree at the bottom of the property, where it is perpetually breezy and pleasant. After evening tea, take a walk through the reserved forest across the valley which has a family of langur inhabiting the giant, wild fig trees. Or drive out to athraa number", to see the Sun set and the twinkling lights spring up in the Konkan, far below. Driving back in the night, we have often seen rabbits, barking deer, and wild boar. We have not been lucky enough to see large sambar deer or gaur (Indian bison), though these do inhabit the area. Evenings are in the courtyard, admiring the Milky Way in the sky above (unless there is a bright moon illuminating the trees and hills). Snacks with drinks are followed by dinner under the stars.
