Are you all geared up for the WOC Fitness challenge to be scheduled on 13th May, 2018. This challenge is only for the selected player from List 1 and 2 of Skill Test.

Venue: Athletic Association Ground, Lucknow University; Gate #2
Call time: 6:00 AM
Dress Code: Whites
Document: Valid Govt ID (Aadhar is preferable)

The challenge would be based on the core parameters of Fitness along with the most talked about WOC version of YO YO test.

PS: Its summer time boys so carry enough fluids to keep you hydrated...

Hi guyz it's been quite some time we haven't interacted with each other. The reason of maintaining the silence on the WOC page was basically to allow the board students to focus on their studies and exams. Hoping the exam went well for all the students from respective classes and boards...

So now, boys gear up and change your mode from studies to sports...because now you only have few days to shapen up your body, mind and soul for the grand WOC season 2 event starting on 24th June, 2018. Save the date and aim for it...

Why warming up before playing a match is important?

Cricket is a game where a player needs to play an explosive shot or bowl real quick and field the ball at a brisk speed. So it has a period of relative inactivity. Therefore players pre match warm up is quiet substantial to avoid injuries.

Following can be few important steps to warm up.

1) Starting slow and building up

● Walk backwards and forwards. Do movements like lunges, side lunges and hurdle walks at slow pace.
● Movements like squats and star jumps as your heart rate moves up.
● Change from walking to jogging.

2) Short Sprints

● A few short sprints can wake you up mentally and physically.

3) Skills warm up

We always warm up by some cricket fielding, throwing and catching skills. This preparation helps you to be prepared for the game.

● If you are a batsmen you can have nets or do batting drills.
● Bowlers can mark out their run and try hitting a target without a batsman as a distraction.
● Wicketkeepers can either work with the. bowlers or find someone to throw them

How important is the fitness for bigger players like Rafal Nadal. World no. 1 was suffering from knee injuries is enjoying his time back on court. He will face Kevin Anderson in US Open finals on Sunday. Right before the finals he has said that for him being fit is more essential than winning.

“For me, more than winning Grand Slams or not — of course, if I win, I will be more happy — but is about being healthy and feeling well and competitive,” Nadal said. Every sports player should always keep this thing in his mind that no matter how great player you are but if you don't work om your fitness you will be left out.

What should young cricket players eat and drink...Dr. John Beradi, a leading writer and sports nutritionist, notes down the 7 important things to do...

1)Eat every 2-3 hours, no matter what.

2) You should eat between 5-8 meals per day.

3) Eat complete lean protein with each meal.

4) Eat fruits and/or vegetables with each food meal.

5) Ensure that your carbohydrate intake comes from fruits and vegetables (Exception: workout and post-workout drinks and meals).

6) Ensure that 25-35% of your energy intake comes from fat, with your fat intake split equally between saturates (e.g. animal fat), monounsaturates (e.g., olive oil), and polyunsaturates (e.g. flax oil, salmon oil).

7) Drink only non-calorie containing beverages, the best choices being water and green tea.

Eat mostly whole foods (except workout and post-workout drinks).

These information can be important for players training for the WOC season 2. We hope you follow them and stay healthy which will help your game

Cricketers often ignore the importance of nutrition and it's benefits. They are trained specifically on their skills in which they ignore that they require strong focus towards the game too which comes with strength and fitness. And here your eating and drinking habit plays a vital role.

Domestic season in India to get neutral sporting pitches from this season. This decision comes after the board was criticised in 2015-16 for 9 matches played on doctored pitches. The concept of playing home and away matches got an overwhelming support this time around. This would help the young players to play on the pitches which will seam and spin.
