Here’s Wishing the Father of Modernism a very Happy Birthday!
Walter Gropius was one of the early propagators of International Modernism along with and when the movement began in Europe more than a century ago.

He later founded the Bauhaus school in Weimar, Germany in 1919.
Its forced closure in 1933 by N**i authorities, led to the emigration of the to other parts of the world, particularly to America.
is seen here at school of design where he moved to teach and influence young minds from many countries. He’s seen here with A.P. Kanvinde and I.M. Pei

The design embraces nature and brings it in through dramatic use of light and wind.
Ando, a self-taught Architect, is recognised for his expansive architecture, characterised by the seamless amalgamation of Japanese design influences and his modernist approach to buildings and landscape.

Fortify | Fortify 2 | Daniel Skotak | 2017
Fortify is a chess set inspired from Brutalist buildings. Not only do the chosen materials - iron and concrete advocate for the designer's inspiration, but also the minimal shapes used for each piece.
Fortify 2 is a recent version made in Jacroki - an organic cellulose material.

Gwangju River Reading Room | 2011 | collaboration- David Adjaye and writer Taiye Selasi.
A public reading space to house 200 books in memory of the 200 students that were killed in a pro-democracy demonstration in South Korea in 1980. The project was initiated in 2011 for the

Did you know that Ancient Indian philosophies considered humble as receptacles of Nature’s bounty? In Sanskrit, a pot is called Kumbh. And Kumbhini, is a synonym for Earth- she who is a pot- a bearer of life, a giver of form.

Always a joy to see design making a difference.
The Stepwell Square in Jodhpur has just added a street Museum to its concept of living heritage. The museum builds on engagement along with a line up of boutiques, a cafe, an old horse shelter and some striking window displays by Rooshad Shroff around the recently restored stepwell.
