Babulnath Mandir
Shiv Ratri, also known as Maha Shivratri, is a Hindu festival celebrated in honour of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, there are different versions of what happened to Shiv Ratri.
One version of the legend says that Lord Shiva drank the poison that emerged from the churning of the ocean during the Samudra Manthan, which threatened to destroy the universe. By doing so, he saved the world from destruction and turned his throat blue, which is why he is also known as Neelkanth.
Another legend states that Shiv Ratri marks the night when Lord Shiva performed the Tandava, a cosmic dance that symbolizes the cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction.
Overall, Shiv Ratri is a day to honour and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva, who is considered the god of destruction, but also a symbol of transformation and rebirth in Hinduism.
