Here's a list of the best time of year to visit Portugal and why for each popular destination in the country:
1. Lisbon: April to June
• The weather is warm, but not too hot, and there are fewer tourists than in the summer months. This is also when the city hosts several festivals and events, such as the Lisbon Fish and flavours festival in April and the Lisbon Book Fair in June.
1. Porto - May to September
• The summer months are the busiest, but also the most festive. The city celebrates São João, its largest street party, in June, and the Wine Harvest Festival in September. The weather is also warm and sunny, perfect for exploring the city's many outdoor attractions.
1. Algarve - May to October
• The Algarve is a popular beach destination, and the weather is warm and sunny during these months. However, the peak summer months can be crowded, so it's best to visit in May or September when the crowds are smaller.
1. Madeira - September to November
• Madeira has a subtropical climate, so the weather is mild and pleasant year-round. However, these months are the best for exploring the island's beautiful gardens and hiking trails, as the temperatures are not too hot.
1. Azores - May to October
• The Azores have a temperate maritime climate, so the weather is mild and rainy year-round. These months are the best for outdoor activities, such as hiking, whale watching, and visiting the island's beautiful lakes and hot springs.

Northern Lights For The First Time In India Spotted In Ladakh

Aurora is one of the most beautiful phenomena on this planet. Usually, in order to witness this phenomenon, you’d have to travel all the way to Scandinavian or Nordic countries. However, this time, the aurora came to us in Ladakh! An Indian Institute of Astrophysics or the IIA Bengaluru, observatory managed to capture the unique phenomenon on camera! According to the IIA, this rare occurrence was due to a geomagnetic storm that hit the earth recently.

According to the IIA Bengaluru, the ethereal aurora in Ladakh is a result of a geomagnetic storm that hit the earth in the past week. Auroras usually occur at extremely high altitudes so it was very unusual that it was spotted in Ladakh where the altitude is relatively low.

Luckily for us, this phenomenon, which is the first of its kind, was captured by the IIA Bengaluru observatory. They took to their Twitter account and shared a time-lapse of the nightsky where the aurora happened and it is simply breathtaking!

Holi, the festival of colours, is celebrated in different ways in different states of India. The rich diversity of the nation is the reason behind this one festival having many forms.

Here is a list that will inform you how different parts of the country celebrate the festival of colours:

1.Rang Panchami (in Maharashtra): People start the festival by burning a pyre of firewood, symbolising the victory of good over evil. They play with colours and water on the next day.
Shigmo (in Goa): People come out on the streets and dance together on the tunes of folk music and play with colour.

2.Manjal Kuli (in Kerala): Celebrated by the Kudumbi and Konkani communities, the celebration is peaceful as people visit the temples and celebrate with folk songs and water colours. Turmeric is used in the making of these colours.

3.Royal Holi (in Udaipur, Rajasthan): This is organised by the royal family of Mewar where processions take place with bands and royal horses. A model of Holika is set on fire in a traditional bonfire.

4.Kumaoni Holi (in Uttarakhand): People of the Kumaon region celebrate this festival with more music and less colour.

5.Holla Mohalla (in Punjab): A three-day-long festival is held at Anandpur Sahib in Punjab. Celebrations include mock battles, music and poetry competitions.

6.Lathmar Holi (in Uttar Pradesh): Barsana, Mathura and Vrindavan are known to celebrate this kind of Holi. As the name suggests, women playfully hit men with lathis (sticks) while the men try to defend themselves with dhal (shield).
