There are many ways to plan a trip to Ladakh, but flight is one of the best ways to get there. There are a variety of flights to Ladakh, both during and outside of the tourist season.   The primary airport in the region is Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport. Located in Leh, this is the nearest airport with a lot of flights from Delhi, Jammu, Srinagar, Chandigarh and other Indian cities.

Some of you are eagerly anticipating your bike or road journey to Ladakh. The finest way to experience Ladakh's natural splendour is on a bike ride. You'll never forget the experience of riding across the breathtaking scenery of the region. Srinagar to Leh and Manali to Leh are the two main routes to Ladakh from Kashmir and Manali, respectively.

Route 1: Srinagar to Leh
If you are travelling from Srinagar then you will be covering a distance of 434 kms, this trip lets you understand the true majesty of Mother Nature’s creations.
Route: Srinagar – Sonmarg – Zozi La – Drass – Kargil – Mulbek – Lamayaru – Saspol – Leh

Route 2: Manali to Leh
If you are taking the route of Manali to Leh then you will be covering a distance of 490km, while enjoying the beautiful vistas of the region.
Route: Manali – Rohtang – Gramphu – Kokhsar – Keylong – Jispa – Darcha – Zingzingbar – Baralacha La – Bharatpur – Sarchu – Gata Loops – Nakee La – Lachulung La – Pang – Tanglang La – Gya – Upshi – Karu – Leh

According to the Kedarkantha legend, Lord Shiva sat at the summit to meditate but was disturbed by a bull, which was running below. So he went to Kedarnath, a town in Uttarakhand, to meditate afterwards.

Another local myth relates to the Pandavas, who went to the Himalayas to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings. However, he hid from Bheem and disguised himself as a bull. But, Bheem recognised him and went after him. So Shiva hid underground. When he rushed out from his hiding place, he let his body parts get divided, and each part fell at a different place. His throat fell on the Kedarkantha, thus earning the peak its name- transliteration- “the throat of Lord Shiva”.

Microspikes are flexible frames with spikes on the bottom that can be worn onto your shoes or boots. They provide increased traction for walking on snow and ice and helps trekkers from slipping on hard ice or snow.

Gaiters are waterproof material worn over the shoe and lower pants leg, and used primarily as personal protective equipment. Gaiters help to avoid snow and moisture to enter the shoes and keep your feet dry while walking in snow.

Hampta Pass Trek 2021

Day 1:- Reach Manali, Report at Rohtang Bridge for a briefing at 11.00 A.M. Drive from Manali (6,726ft) to Jobra (9800ft), Trek from Jobra to Chika (11,100ft/2-3 hours).

Day 2:- Trek from Chika (11,100ft) to Balu ka Ghera (12,411ft/4-5 hours).

Day 3:- Trek from Balu ka Ghera (12,411ft) via Hampta Pass(12,254ft) to Shea Goru (14,035ft/ 6-7 hours).

Day 4:- Trek from Shea Goru (14,035ft) to Chatru (10,898ft/3-4 hours), and drive to Chandratal Lake (14,100ft) and back to Chatru (10,898ft/3-4 hours).

Day 5:- Drive from Chatru (10,898ft) to Manali (6,726ft/ 7-8 hours).

The best month to do the Valley of flowers trek?

The best time to visit this place will be during monsoons, starting from July to September. During this season, the weather in the high altitude will be pleasant with drizzles which makes it wonderful for trekking. The temperature during the day time will be 15- 30 degrees Celsius and in the night it drops to 7-10 degrees Celsius. You may have to carry a raincoat. In July, you'll come across more lush green meadows, not many flowers yet, but the greenery around and dewdrops on the leaves will make you awe at the beauty. During the first 15 days of August, you'll see a huge number of varied flowers fully bloomed that will look like a paradise hidden in the Himalayas. But be prepared for a crowded valley as thousands of people throng this place during these months.
