Bali is indeed one of the most difficult destinations to reach, but once you are there - it is closer to home like no other.

This point was driven home at a Blessing ceremony at the

Felt so familiar as the local Hindu priest payed to all the elements - water, air, earth and fire.

The priest then burns incense and meditates then chants Sanskrit mantras as he prepares the holy water to pour a holy shower.
Same reverence, even the same deities… 🙏 🧘‍♂️ just across a few oceans.

Made me think of how the world is one large piece of fabric, and each thread weaves its way through the cloth - surfacing in different portions as a part of a whole.
Appearing and resurfacing in several portions, the oblivious onlooker does not even realise it is the same thread.

The colour, design and texture may feel different because of the imprint on the surface…. But it is the same fabric.

So much gyaan from a blessing ceremony !!

South Korea 🇰🇷 Culture
Due to their long history, South Koreans have a variety of traditions they have kept alive throughout centuries. Still today, you can watch traditional Korean dance and music performances, while people love to dress in traditional clothes (hanbok) – you can rent it to wear around Seoul and Jeonju, for eg. Even in modern Seoul, you can still find traditional hanok house neighborhoods with lovely teahouses that have been in existence for decades. This mix of old and new is truly fun to explore when traveling in South Korea.

I often wondered why Chefchaouen is blue??

The most likely answer I came up with is that Chefchaouen's Jews — who long since relocated to Casablanca or Israel — are thought to have been the originators of the blue tradition, using it replace the colours like green associated with other religions.
Others will tell you that the colour is good for warding off mosquitoes, or is particularly cooling in high mountain sun. Whatever the reason, my trip to Chefchaouen a few years ago was very memorable. Ofcourse the landscape was an Instagram haven, but the real character of the city was the sense of pride of the people.

Much as it is touristy, the locals actually discourage you to spoil the natural ambience by photographing private moments of the locals going about their day. Be sure to seek permission before you click or you could be in a spot of trouble. It could be a snappy reprimand or even a prolonged animated argument involving money - so take my advice and avoid photography of locals without explicit permission.

What a unique name for a luxury resort… Lizard Island. Yes it is a member of the Luxury Lodges of Australia, but even then the minute you say the name, you get a range of reactions from amusement to curiosity.

The most common question I get asked is - Are there really Lizards 🦎 on Lizard Island 🏝? The answer is yes…. There are.

May I clarify that they are not dangerous and they are not everywhere. But you may catch one as you trek in the shrubs, or wander into wilderness. They will not intimidate, but just lend authenticity to the name of the resort.

Who We Are

The Intrepid Club is the outbound travel division of Ventours. Twenty six years ago, a British gentleman, Mr. Alain Whitehouse, returned to India in search of his colonial roots, and stayed on. He got a group of his friends together who joined hands and became connoisseurs of a different East and the creators of a discerning traveler's itinerary. That was the beginning of Ventours in 1986.

Nearly three decades later, and after much thought it was decided to extend the Ventours experience to clients in India’s domestic market. The idea was to cater to the travel zest of prosperous Indians who now want to roam the world, looking for out of the box travel experiences. Thus was born The Intrepid Club – an outbound travel division of Ventours.
