Situated on the northern bank of mighty River Brahmaputra, Biswanath Chariali is the sub-divisional H.Q. Lying between the foothills of eastern Himalayas and the River Brahmaputra, it is endowed with a remarkably beautiful natural landscape. It is dotted with lush green tea gardens, forests and roadside plantations. Further, there are numerous heritage sites such as temples, canals, tanks ramparts

dating back to Pre-Ahom period ( before 1378 AD ). The location of the Kaziranga National Park on the southern boundary of Biswanath has immense untapped potential for wild adventure tourism. This pilgrimage town has several temples and is also known as GUPTA KAASHI. Biswanath was mentioned in KALIKA-PURAN and YOGINI-TANTRA of 10th and 17th century respectively.
