‘My profile’

Hello everyone.
I’m Jagdish Chelani. I’m an IAS officer of the 2018 batch of Meghalaya Cadre. And I’ve newly joined as Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills from 1st of April.

I’ve done a B.Tech and an M.Tech in Biotechnology ans Biochemical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, an MA in Public Administration and an MA in Politics(International Studies) from JNU, New Delhi. I’m a native of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

This is kind of a homecoming for me. Tura was my first place of posting in Meghalaya. I joined Tura as SDO (Sadar), and then went on to join as SDO - Civil, Dadenggre. I was then posted as Deputy Secretary, Department of Planning and Agriculture in Meghalaya Secretariat. After which, I was posted as Deputy Commissioner, East Garo Hills, and now I’m posted as DC, West Garo Hills.

I have loved the district and the people of West Garo Hills. I hope to see you all sometime in the district. I hope to continue the good works and legacy left by DCs before me, and contribute with the knowledge I have, in improving administration and service delivery.
