The Himalaya is mountain range in Asia
Nepal, Bhutan, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The mighty Himalaya contains 3411 named
peaks among which more than 100 peaks are exceeding 7100m elevation and more than 1500 glaciers
throughout the range. It is called the third pole of the world.
The range is the home to many uncommon, endemic and endangered species of flora and fauna including
10% of world’s known species and 50% of India’s endemic flora. The Himalaya helps 1.65 billion people (20%

These mountains shelter to more than 50 million people and another 450 million are settled at the base of it.
This entire population depends of the resources that originated and flows down from the Himalayas.
In the Himalayas each community and valley has distinct socio-culture and traditions to face different
challenges of life. The people of the Himalaya are known for their rich tapestry of derived traditional
knowledge which spread across the domain of medicine, agriculture and animal husbandry etc. The
Himalaya is the place where diversity in beauty can be seen in every sight – lush green forest, snowy
mountain peak, sky touching rhododendron, waterfall, Sweetwater Lake, river with rapid current, glacier,
cave, desert of snow and a lots of pilgrim/
More than 700000 tourists/visitors each year around the globe come to this place in search of adventure,
sightseeing the surrounding cities/villages and enjoy the Himalayan livelihood. Regional business is growing
depending on it. Businesses of the region arrange adventures event like – trekking, hiking, river rafting, rock
climbing, paragliding and notably expedition to the peak of some tallest mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt.
Kanchenjunga, Mt.K2 ,Mt Nanda Devi
Himalaya welcomes everyone. It has many trek routes considering the physical and mental strength of the
trekkers can choose from beginner to expert, some of the trek routes are Mt. Everest Base Camp trek, South
Kanchenjunga Base Camp trek, Sandakphu-Phalut trek, Recently a new trek
route has been introduced by local people lead by Ms. Keshari Gurung of Tumling,(me) Nepal region to explore
the virgin nature in 14 days trek from Tumling to yamphubin south kanchenjunga base camp trek. I am very excited to host and guide the
trekkers to this explored part of the Himalaya.
Different festivals of the Himalayas let the tourists enhance their knowledge and understanding of the
ancient culture of the mountain. Tourists can also experience the actual Himalayan livelihood like – food,
language, music, art, dress, daily life struggle etc. by living with the people at their Homestays as long as they
want at affordable price.
Yoga in the Himalayas has become a most popular choice for the national/international travellers to connect
with the inner-self and feel empowered seating in the lap of the Himalayas. There are some Yoga Centres
that offers such opportunities in this region.
The Himalaya plays a significant role not only in life of Asian people or the visitors from the world but also in
the World eco-system and socio-economic sector of every human in the world. It must be taken care and
