Isfahan was chosen as the capital of Persia for 3 times throughout its history. The last time was in 1598 in the reign of Shah Abbas the Great of Safavid Persia under whom it flourished and gained the title of Nesf-e-Jahan meaning "half of the world".
Jean Chardin, a French traveler who traveled to Isfahan in 1664 described the Safavid capital as being larger than London with a population of 700/000 people.
Masterpieces such as Naqsh-e-Jahan square, Shah mosque, Sheikhlotfollah mosque and Chehelsotoun palace were built during Isfahan golden time in the 17th century.

Modern domes construction techniques were invented by the Persians!

The dome chamber in the Palace of Ardashir, the Sassanid king, in Firuzabad, Iran, is the earliest surviving example of the use of the squinch from 220 AD, suggesting that the squinch have been invented in Persia. After the rise of Islam, it was used in the Middle East in both eastern Romanesque and Islamic architecture. It remained a feature of Islamic architecture, especially in Iran, and was often covered by corbelled stalactite-like structures known as muqarnas.
In architecture, a squinch is a triangular corner that supports the base of a dome. Its visual purpose is to translate a rectangle into an octagon.
The Persian invention of the squinch, enabled the transition from the walls of a square chamber to an octagonal base for a dome in a way reliable enough for large constructions and domes moved to the forefront of Persian architecture as a result. Pre-Islamic domes in Persia are commonly semi-elliptical, with pointed domes and those with conical outer shells being the majority of the domes in the Islamic period.

Āina-kāri (literally mirror works in English) is a kind of Iranian interior decoration where artists assemble finely cut mirrors together in geometric, calligraphic or foliage forms (inspired by flowers and other plants). This creates a beautiful shining surface covered with complex facets, reflecting light as intricate abstract patterns or glittering reflections.
This kind of architectural art flourished in the reign of Shah Abbas the Great of Safavid Persia in the 17th century in Isfahan, Iran, but it can be traced back to Sassanid Persia to 5th century A.D.

Chaharshanbeh Suri (Persian: lit 'Scarlet Wednesday'), is an Iranian festival of the fire dance celebrated on the eve of the last Wednesday of the year, of ancient Zoroastrian origin. It is the first festivity of Nowruz, the Iranian New Year.

Before the start of the festival, people gather brushwood in an open, free exterior space. At sunset, after making one or more bonfires, they jump over the flames, singing sorkhi-ye to az man, zardi-ye man az to, literally meaning your redness [be] mine, my paleness yours", or a local equivalent of it. This is considered a purification practice.

The Arg-e Bam, located in the city of Bam, Kerman Province of southeastern Iran, is the largest adobe building in the world. The entire building was a large fortress containing the citadel, but because the citadel dominates the ruins, the entire fortress is now named Bam Citadel.

Listed by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage Site "Bam and its Cultural Landscape", it can be traced back to at least the Achaemenid Empire (6th to 4th centuries BC). The citadel rose to importance from the 7th to 11th centuries, as a crossroads along the Silk Road and other important trade routes, and as a producer of silk and cotton garments.

the area of Bam Citadel is approximately 180,000 square meters (44 acres) and is surrounded by gigantic walls, 6–7 metres (20–23 ft) high and 1,815 metres (5,955 ft) long. The citadel features two of the "stay-awake towers" for which Bam is famed. There are as many as 67 such towers, scattered across the ancient city of Bam.

On 26 December 2003, at 5:26 am, Bam was struck by a major earthquake, it was estimated its magnitude at 6.6, on the Richter scale. The extremely destructive quake killed about 26,200, injured thousands, and left more than 75,000 homeless. Bam citadel has been renovated ever since.

P***epolis was one of the four capitals of the Persian Achaemenid empire. It's located 55 Kms to the northwest of Shiraz, Iran. It was built around 2500 years ago to display the Achaemenid power through art. So the best artists from around the world were gathered to create the finest, richest, and most magnificent city under the sun!
In Achaemenid art, especially in the motifs of P***epolis, the reliefs of two plants - one cypress and the other lotus - and the reliefs of animals such as lion, cow, horse, falcon (Homa) and ibex (Pazan) have been repeated many times. The capitals of P***epolis palaces have four shapes: human head and animal body, back to back cow head, back to back head of two lions and back to back head of two eagles.

Brief introduction of IRAN

Iran is an ancient country situated in the middle east. It is located between Caspian sea in the north , Persian Gulf in the south , Turkey in the west and Afganistan in the east . Iran is home to 83 million people and covers an area of 1,648,129 square kilometers.
There are different ethnicities living In Iran such as Persians , Azeris , Kurds , Lurs , Balouchs , Arabs and Turkmens.
Iran has had more than 40 different capitals in its history. Tehran has been the capital of Iran for the last 230 years.
Persian has continuously been the official languages of Iran from 2550 years ago except for a gap of 200 years following the Arab conquest of Persia.
Civilizations as old as 5000 years such as Jiroft and Elam started to thrive for the first time in Iran. Later it was the Iranian Meds who unified Iran under a central government and established a professional army who fought against Mesopotamian forces in the 7th century BC.
In 550 BC , Cyrus the Great founded the Achaemenid empire which was a turning point in the history of Persia as the first Persian empire and the first superpower in human history.
Later in 224 AD the second Persian empire was established by Ardeshir Papakan. He named his empire Sassanid, after his grandfather's name . He was the first monarch to use the term Erān (Iran) officially in a political sense. The word "Iran" is derived from A***n . A***n people including Meds , Persians and Parthians migrated to Iran sometime around 3600 years ago.
Arab Muslims conquered Persia in the 7th century AD which led to the Islamization of Iran. Iranians were the major contributor to the Islamic golden age as they had inherited the rich culture , sciences , administration system, art and architecture of the Sassanid empire.
From 9th to 11th centuries Iran was ruled by different regional dynasties before the Seljuks and Mongols conquered the region in the 11th and 13th centuries respectively.
It was finally the native Safavids who re-established the state of Iran and preserved the national identity based on the Persian language , Shia Islam and Iranian culture such as Nowruz, Sade and Yalda celebrations. Safavids rivaled the Ottoman Turks and defeated them in several battles. They chose Isfahan as their capital. Isfahan flourished under the Safavids to its maximum glory and magnificence .
During the 20th century Iranians revolted for a constitutional monarchy. They accomplished and a parliament was established in 1906 .
The last dynasty ruling over Iran was the Pahlavids . It was a constitutional monarchy founded in 1925 by Reza Shah. His son Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi took power in 1941 after his father was deposed and exiled by the Allies during the second world war. Shah have been the royal title for Iranian kings from Achaemenid era since 2500 years ago.
Mohammad Reza Shah was finally deposed in January of 1979 shortly before the Islamic republic was announced.

Sade is an ancient Persian celebration of fire taking place on the 10th of Bahman in Persian calendar corresponding roughly to January the 30th or 50 days before Nowruz ( Persian new year celebration)
Sade is the celebration to honor fire. As according to Persian mythology it was first discovered accidentally by the Iranian legendary king -Houshang- while he threw a rock to defend himself against a snake. The rock hit another rock which led to a fire breaking out. It was the first time human beings discovered the fire and learned how to make it so they started to celebrate this event as Sade ever after.
Sade is still celebrated by Iranians specially Iranian Zoroastrians in Kerman, Yazd and Tehran for thousands of years.
