Our family's work in progress, a country villa in Northern Iceland where you can rent a room, stop by for a cup of coffee, and perhaps share a crazy idea that just might become a reality. In simple terms, Varpholt is a former broadcasting station located close to Akureyri in North-eastern Iceland, that has been converted into a geothermally heated country villa. It is our home when in Iceland and
a centre for our extended family, a workshop, a design studio and an adventurous kitchen, it is a cup of coffee and a quick chat and a sanctuary for anyone seeking a quiet corner to relax for a few days. But, most of all, Varpholt is a community, where we are constantly dreaming up new and exciting things to do with our space while enjoying each others company and welcoming kindred spirits. Would you be interested in spending a few days of your hard-earned vacation with us, using conveniently located Varpholt as a base for your day-trips and outings? We rent out a flat on the first floor for longer periods, and a couple of rooms on the ground floor for shorter periods. Not really looking for that traditional holiday? Would you perhaps be interested in joining us in a project in exchange for a free room and board for a few days? If so, check out the “Join us” tab above and see what you think. We’d love to hear more about your ideas! To learn about ours, please follow our blog.
