As we are entering full winter season, we are hard at work preparing next summer long tours.
We are very happy to say that our week long tours are all fully booked, it means a lot to us to have your trust. We still take waitlist reservation.
You can still join the 3-4 days long tours.

In the meantime, our daily tours are still going, in a wonderfully frozen landscape. Keeping warm with confortable riding overalls.

Nature has been incredibly nice this past 2 weeks, with clear skies, days and nights. A perfect weather to experience winter riding, but also a great time to watch the northern lights. From inside our coat cottages or directly in the hot tub, there is no better place to watch them.

This Saturday we took part of the annual horse round up in Laufskàlarètt.
A very special experience for all of our guests in the best weather we could have hoped for.

We are happy to share with you a few shots from the event.
No matter how good they are, they will only give you a glimpse of what it is all about.
This traditional event, is just something that has to be experienced.

It starts around 10 in the morning with hundreds of riders coming from every directions to herd the young horses back from the mountain to the corral.
Then the sorting starts in a very joyful vibe, often with a lot of singing.
And finally around 3pm farmers start herding their horses back to their farms.

This weekend was very special and busy all around Iceland as farmers were retrieving their stocks from the highlands. The first round ups of the year took place last week, and brought back thousands of sheep to be sorted all around the country.
Icelanders celebrates this moment with friends and family as they wrestle with sheep. The festive vibe of the corral is a truly unique and unforgettable atmosphere.

Our guests rode for 2 days in the Icelandic mountains before they reached the coral. On their last day with us, they joined in the festivity and wrestled with a few sheep, before driving one sheep herd back to its farm.

After our last 2023 « Breath of the highlands » ended last week, it is time for us to fondly look back on this summer in the highlands with you.

This year we have been enjoying: 
* very good Icelandic summer weather, with a lot of sun, some fog and of course a little rain here and there.
* watching you fall in love with your mighty horses.
* witnessing a lot of smiles and shared laughters.
* sharing unforgettable experiences.
* creating lifetime memories.
* and so much more indescribable moments.

Fall will soon come to iceland with plenty of horse riding adventures to offer.

Last minute availabilities for our long tour Breath of the Highlands !
We now have 1-2 saddles available for the departure from the 06th to the 12th of august 2023.

This vibrant riding tour with a herd of free-running horses starts in the beautiful Skagafjörður, the heart of horse breeding in Iceland. It embarks you on a trail leading through the wilderness of the Icelandic highlands, where the stunning sight of the glaciers Hofsjökull and Langjökull will emerge as you go further. The scenic canyon Gilhagadalur, the remote highlands hut Galtará and the beautiful Svartádalur valley are only few of the highlights of this tour.
7 days / 6 nights – 6 riding days (1-3 horses per person per day)

Busy week!
Not only school groups, normal riding tours and the work around the stable, also three of the Vindheimar mares gave birth. Three times red ❤️‍🔥 all healthy and big! Hope for a great future for them!
