Casa Oleander
The house, built early in the nineteenth century, was originally a farmhouse and one apartment for a big Italian family. Many years later a couple acquired the house and changed it into an apartment hotel. The present owner, since 2004, changed the house again into one big family house, as it remains today. The house is built on a hill - Monte Bonelli - but draws its name from the w
onderful pink Oleander bushes growing on the premises. On the land surrounding the house you will find olive trees, beautiful vine and blossoming flowers typical of the Tuscan hills. Around the land is a fence and an entrance gate for which you need a code to open. A few steps from the house you will find a large swimming pool. The area surrounding the pool is very nicely landscaped and equipped with sunbeds, umbrellas, a small shed with a fridge and an outdoor shower. From the poolside you will find a breathtaking view over the surrounding area. Once inside the house you will find that the main common areas are on the ground floor – terra piano – a grand foyer and a staircase leading to the floors above. There are two adjacent kitchen areas equipped with two dishwashers and ample space for both cooking and serving. All necessary kitchen appliances are provided with dinnerware and cutlery for 18 people. You will also find a built-in coffee machine, ice cube dispenser and two big refrigerators with freezers. Two doors open out from the kitchen into the back yard where there is a large coal barbeque. From one kitchen area you enter a breakfast room/dining room where 8 – 10 people can be seated. From there you can walk out onto a patio where there is a dining table for 10 – 12, with a large parasol, making it a great spot to enjoy lunch. Adjacent to the breakfast room is another dining area with a table and chairs for 6 – 8 people, connecting to a living room with fireplace. Additionally is a secondary dining are that also sits 6 – 8 people. From there you walk into a TV lounge. The ground floor has one half bathroom and a walkway down to the basement/garage. The garage is located underground with its entrance to the right of the house. It can hold four to six midsize cars which can be very convenient when fighting the strong Italian sun. A laundry room with a washer is located in the basement. Movable drying racks are available as well. There is WiFi at the house, accessible on the ground floor.
