April 2017 I was in Arezzo in Tuscany for one of my usual "wildcard" works.
I was 28 years old and had no idea "what I wanted to do when I grew up". 😕
And here I saw a sponsored on Facebook: it was an application for @withlocals a Dutch start-up: they were looking for local guides in Milan. 🧐
I snooped on their site and sent the application.
They were already working for some years with tours mainly in Asia and Europe in the major cities, in Italy only in Rome.
In 2015 at the gates of EXPO Milano, together with my family we were discussing over dinner how to channel tourism during this gigantic event. I had a very similar idea, but, I thought "impossible to achieve".🙄
A few years later, after the first test of questions in English and a skype call directly from Holland, I became a local guide of Withlocals in my beautiful city, Milan. ❤️
I started doing the food tour 🍽 in the Brera - Corso Garibaldi area, to then accompany my guests on happy hour tours🥂, fashion tours👠 and sometimes even hen parties.👯♀️
I learned to get to know my city even more through your eyes, to be amazed by better observing corners that were previously only places where I used to pass by habit.
I learned history and culture. I was amazed in front of the Brera library and found one of the spots that I love most today.
I thought it would be just an extra job, however Withlocals completely changed my life🙏❤️
