What a versatile hiking area we live in. You can take walks that include many meters of altitude, but there are also beautiful routes that gradually go up and require little effort. We recently took such a walk in the Rassa valley.
At the end of the paved road, route 251 begins, which ends in Valle d’Osta. This is where we started. Via a forest path, you arrive after about 10 minutes at an alpine meadow with a beautiful mountain hut called Heidi, where you can eat delicious regional dishes. It was still early in the morning, so we continued walking, knowing that a lovely cold glass of beer/wine would be waiting for us at Heidi’s on the way back.
The route gradually wound us upwards with the river constantly beneath us. We walked through forests, but it was also open here and there and we had beautiful views. After about half an hour of walking, we arrived at Alpe Sorba, where there are a number of mountain houses. In the summer months, there are many residents. One of the residents has a hobby of woodworking. He makes beautiful wood carvings, which are spread all over the alp.
After looking around for a while, we continued. The path continued through the forest and past beautiful waterfalls.
At one point we arrived at Alpe di Dosso, from here you could easily reach the river. We enjoyed our sandwiches at this beautiful spot with our feet in the water.
After that we walked back at our leisure, and of course we had a beer and a glass of wine at Heidi's terrace. And then we went home with a satisfied feeling.
