Take your shot!

In this cute image, the tree's leaves softly surround the squirrel, highlighting its fluffy fur. Positioning the branch on which the squirrel is perched flat across the center of the image lends stability to the composition, also giving the impression that the photograph's subject is enjoying a relaxed conversation. The best way to capture candid images of the facial expressions of wild animals is to keep your distance and use a telephoto lens. Using a long focal length, and keeping a long distance between the subject and its background also allows the background to blur, as in this example.

Today’s Pick Up from Fujifilm’s Showroom “FUJIFILM SQUARE”

The Photo History Museum at FUJIFILM SQUARE has been showing works by acclaimed postwar Japanese photographer Yoichi Midorikawa, considered by many a “magician of color and light”.

Yoichi Midorikawa (1915 – 2001) was a pioneering photographer who constantly sought new modes of expression. In the early 1960s, his curiosity for novelty segued into an ambitious pursuit of color expression when color film was not yet widespread, resulting in his photobook “The Seto Inland Sea” (「BIJUTSU SHUPPAN-SHA」, 1962). He went on to author over 70 nature-centric photobooks in his lifetime. Yet, arguably his best works are those he took in and around the Seto Inland Sea area. He drew much of his highly unique, experimental expression from the sea he gazed upon since childhood.

21/12/2023

FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation's greenhouse gas emission reduction target for FY2030 has been validated by the Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative, an international collaborative initiative of the CDP, as a scientifically based target for achieving the “1.5 degrees Celsius goal” set out in the Paris Agreement.

The "1.5 degrees Celsius goal" aims to limit the rise in global average temperature to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels. The global average temperature has been increasing year by year, and it is predicted to rise by up to 5.7°C compared to pre-industrial levels. The Paris Agreement was established as a long-term goal in 196 countries to pursue efforts to limit this increase to 1.5°C.

We will promote production activities with a lower environmental impact and delivering products and services with excellent environmental performance in order to reduce greenhouse emissions.

Take your shot!

In this image, the photographer successfully captures the falling snow in such a way as to draw the viewer right into the picture. The overall blue tone of the image highlights the white color of the snow. Using a relatively fast shutter speed ensures the photographer can capture the individual falling snowflakes. Focusing on the rear of the image while widening the aperture also blurs the foreground snow into fluffy balls, producing a dreamy effect.

As the world gathers for in Dubai, we applaud the Japan Climate Initiative’s proposal introducing internationally aligned and fair carbon pricing. This initiative aims to utilize government revenue from carbon pricing to promote the development and adoption of low-carbon technologies, fostering decarbonization efforts across the entire supply chain.

Take your shot!

This remarkable image captures the dynamic power of the Northern Lights. Using a wide angle lens to include not only the sky but also the ground and the bench helps to emphasize the size of the celestial show. The dramatic curtain-like effect is produced by using a slow shutter speed. However, since slower shutter speeds can result in a blurred image, we recommend steadying your camera on a tripod. Remember that when shooting in cold environments your batteries won't last very long. Don't forget your spares.

We are pleased to announce that FUJIFILM Holdings America Corp. has entered into a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) for 300,000 MWh of annual sustainable solar energy from the Blevins Solar Project.

VPPA is a long-term power purchase agreement between consumer and energy company. The energy company operates and maintains the power plants while the energy consumer pays a fixed monthly amount for the electricity.

Our VPPA offsets 100% of the company’s total electricity use in the United States and Canada and is equivalent to avoiding approximately 90,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions per year. This represents approximately 9% of the Fujifilm group’s global annual CO2 emissions.

TOKYO, November 15, 2023 – FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation (President and CEO, Representative Director: Teiichi Goto) announced today that FUJIFILM Holdings America Corp. has entered into a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement*1 (VPPA) for 300,000 MWh of annual sustainable solar energy from the Blevins ...

Today’s Pick Up from Fujifilm’s Showroom “FUJIFILM SQUARE”

Since 1984, pioneer of moonlight photography Kenji Ishikawa has worked on landscape moonlight photography relying only on the light of full moons. In 2005 he began focusing on full moons in areas where he can capture earth-scale landscapes and skies filled with stars in his pursuit to “actually experience outer space on Earth.” Over the course of seven years, Ishikawa captured the primordially pristine Iguazu Falls, Monument Valley, Salar de Uyuni, Lake Mungo remains, Baobab trees that intimate their ancient origins, and the living flora and fauna fossils of the Galapagos on color reversal film, compiling these photographs into his 2012 photo collection “SPACE of SPIRIT.”

This exhibition is scheduled to feature 15 of his hand-selected works from the group of works that were finished and exhibited in Fujichrome RP Print crystal, the finest silver photographic print at the time.
