This morning I have come across a post of a friend how her differently abled child(special needs) is being bullied in school specifically in her class and the child has been sitting alone in class because she doesn't want to get in the way of the bully. The mother is crashed.

And this right here adds to the stigma parents go through when they have a special needs child. It's not even about kids to kids( sometimes they are not aware) adults are super nasty to parents with special kids and to the kids too....but why?

Why has this hit home for me? In the last 6 years God allowed us in the line of our business to handle kids abled differently ( matters school transport) and have had the privilege of working and understanding the kids and care givers and parents. Autistic,celebral palsy, Dawn syndrome, deaf and mute( we have had to learn some basic sign language) and other conditions I don't even know their terms....but we love on them super good with the hugs and high fives when we pick and drop. We share our all in their special space and our bond is special.

We have allowed ourselves to mix these kids with normal kids so they don't feel isolated. For the normal kids they have learnt to love on them and understand them and always ready to make them comfortable...its always so.emotional when I look on the rear mirror and see the abled kids allowing the little ones to even lie on their laps should they fall asleep...this is enough to make my day....

During our in-house training with our operators(drivers) I reminded them to always keep in mind that whilst handling these kids who are totally unaware of their condition, it's the parents and care givers who are more special than the kids, because they carry this burden that seems to have no end. They are screaming from the inside to be understood, their kids to be understood, for the world to be fair to them, for someone else to carry these burden for them if possible...their constantly on a worry path when the kids are away from them they are supper sensitive....they many times cry themselves to sleep wondering...why them? These parents right here are heroes because non can handle what they do...none! Some parents even abandone their own kids coz it's too much.

So for you and I who have been blessed more than we deserve...why would we be the reason to stigmatise a parent or child with special needs?

Do you know how much these kids thrive in a lovely and warm environment?

We handled an autistic boy whom had been integrated from a special needs school to normal school. We handled him before and after integration. When he was in class 8 he would get into the van sit right at the back switch on the cabin light and continue doing his homework. We had to adjust to driving with that light on until he was done. If you tried to ask him to switch it off it would be a nightmare ..He did his KCPE 2 years ago...he scored 350 marks way too impressive for his condition. He is in boarding school now in form 2 and we check on his progress because we are family and our hearts beat music when we see such.

Be a blessing today to anyone close to you or you know has loved one that is special. Be the reason they will smile today and change of heart for making a horrible decision. Be the person they can run to and cry when they feel frustrated...be the difference!

A special shout out to any parent or persons living or caring for a special needs person. You are very special and very loved...if not by anybody else. .I love you!
