Today some of our fabulous horses started a new life in the Loldaigas. Riding High has officially closed its doors. With a touch of sadness, we look back on our adventures on Mt Kenya with gratitude and a huge sense of pride and achievement. We also look forward to seeing what these amazing horses can achieve next!!

That’s a wrap! Our final safari of the season. The odds were stacked against us after the ferocious fires on Mt Kenya in March but the rains started just in time. Streams and waterfalls began to flow once more and the indigenous forests were kept safe by the heroic fire fighting efforts of so many. Thank you to everyone who came together to protect this precious ecosystem, especially . We salute you all. Horses and guides now enjoying a month off. We will be back for more adventures in May

Kenya is so desperately dry at the moment. Fires are breaking out on Mt Kenya 🇰🇪 Today, fire fighters on the ground were defeated by high winds and increasing temperatures. A huge fire has jumped the Ontulili River and now access by road and on foot is extremely difficult. is urgently raising funds to launch helicopters tomorrow at dawn to help fight this fire. Please HELP with donations if you can

An abundant rainfall in December 2021 means that Mt Kenya’s varied flora is growing higher and thicker than in previous years.
Riding High guides follow game trails across the heathland covered in heather and giant protea. Buffalo and eland are often seen watching us from a nearby ridge, sunbirds and alpine chats abound

The Mt Kenya Elephant Corridor helps elephants to safely migrate between lowland areas and the Mountain. Riding High guests sometimes get to see these lucky elephants enjoying the lush vegetation at the upper end of their 14km journey through the corridor.

Fly camping on Mt Kenya is a fun and rewarding experience for the intrepid traveler. Fabulous riding, campfire cooking, a lot of laughter and even some wild swimming and forest bathing along the way.
