Not the usual weather we get on Black Friday but a perfect day to make turkey broth (with scotch bonnet peppers for a Caribbean flair) from the leftover of our wonderful al fresco turkey dinner last night completely catered by the Soleil d’Or Farm restaurant. It’s Fall here too, but in a month it will be Spring.

This is what happens when you compost mangoes and papayas and then leave for a few months! Ten mango and 16 papaya trees in that small compost.

It’s hibiscus (Sorel) season starting now on Cayman Brac, it’s a popular Christmas drink in Jamaica. Julie and Dan, our guests, were adventurous enough to pick our Sorel plants and follow the recipe to make this marvelous drink. It was well executed and well received, mostly after adding rum!

Summer!! Warm water and warm outdoor showers, bananas and beginning of the dragon fruit season, pickleball early in the morning, long bike rides in late afternoon, afternoon reading in the shade, in and out of the pool, snorkeling in warm sea water, taco night with mostly the locals and Al fresco dinners on the pool deck, full moon rising and beautiful sunsets. You can’t beat Summers on Cayman Brac!

The Caribbean’s Most Underrated Ecotourism Destinations—And Where To Stay (Forbes,May 28, 2024)
“…those seeking a more remote ecotourism destination (than Grand Cayman) should be sure to book a trip to neighboring Cayman Brac.
Roughly 150 kilometers east of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac is far less developed than its neighbor, providing an opportunity for wildlife to thrive. In the heart of the island, Brac Parrot Reserve acts as a crucial refuge for both native plantlife and all sorts of colorful birds. The site is best known for its high concentration of Cayman Brac parrots, while additional resident species span from the yellow-faced grassquit to the smooth-billed ani to the Caribbean elaenia.”
And we complete this article by mentioning:
Just south of the preserve Bliss Beach House offers very private accommodations that serve as the perfect base for exploring the island. You will probably see more Cayman Brac Parrots at Bliss than at the reserve and every night before sun down you will see the brown bo***es returning home. It’s a great happy hour activity!
These idyllic North American islands are home to high-end resorts and a fascinating array of native flora and fauna.
What’s new? Several shaded sitting areas, stairs to the beach, new rock wall, sitting area in the fruit garden, new herbs, tomatoes and peppers (mostly scotch bonnets), more bananas and papayas and a lot more flowers and color everywhere.

The Bliss Garden keeps giving: key limes, lots of papayas, coconut and mint, blueberries are from Kirkconnell Supermarket but we now have Barbados cherries. The background is all Bliss Beach House!

Good morning,
We just had a cancellation for April 22-29 if anyone is interested.
In addition to building a garage/green house, we are finally replacing this “beautiful” gardening bench (first photo) with 8 new ones! Don has been very busy! We also have been propagating many plants and fruit trees for the Cayman Islands National Trust Fundraiser Plant Sale (on February 24) and also for a new sitting area in the garden by the bluff. It will be a very serene spot to have coffee and watch the birds in the morning! Sometimes, the ocean is just too loud 😉

Fantastic 6km morning walk from Bliss to the end of our road and back. At the end of the road there’s the Great Cave on the left and the Columbus Heritage oceanfront hiking trail on the right. Only saw 2 cyclists, 2 runners, 4 walkers, 2 cars and many chickens. After your walk, reward yourself by picking fruits for your breakfast in the Bliss garden and with a little effort, some fresh coconut water. This morning, banana, coolie plum and pomegranate but papaya and passion fruit “soon come”.

Welcome to Bliss Beach House, we are Don and Sylvie. We have traveled the world for the past 10 years to find the perfect place with the most perfect climate where it is safe to live and play and where the locals are welcoming.
We visited some great locales but when we came to Cayman Brac, we knew right away that this place was the right one!
We like to travel as a couple and we were tired of renting 2 or 3 bedroom houses when we only needed one bedroom. We much prefer luxury, privacy and outdoor living space to a large house.
We looked for houses on the island but couldn't find the perfect house so we bought the perfect lot, in the perfect location and designed our dream home: oceanfront, private pool, small inside but lots of outdoor living space and modern yet still with a Caribbean flare.
Luxurious and private. Ocean views from every room in the house and gorgeous views of the bluff. Waterfront, with 1 acre of property which includes a large organic garden filled with exotic fruit trees, vegetable and herbs. It's newly planted, but we've already eaten June plum, coolie plum and pomegranate. You can pick what is in season.
Cayman Airways and a number of U.S. airlines fly directly from Miami and some other U.S. cities directly to Cayman Brac. Many international airlines fly to Grand Cayman, and Cayman Airways offers a short 30 minute flight from Grand Cayman (GCM) to Cayman Brac (CYB) at multiple times during the day.
