😋Baursak
🔥Baursaks are the symbols of hospitality among nomadic people. The food is popular in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, as well as among Tajiks, Uzbeks, Tatars and Bashkirs. This traditional fried dough is usually served during holidays and treated to honoured guests.
Baursaks are also known as Central Asian doughnuts. Usually, they are made of yeast dough or unleavened dough. There are several baursak shapes which are round and diamond. 🏰Toprak-Kala
🇺🇿Khorezm Region, Uzbekistan
Toprak-Kala or "Earth City" is one of the most valuable and majestic monuments of Ancient Khorezm.
The monument, like many other monuments of the ancient Khorezm civilization, was discovered by an outstanding archaeologist and historian Sergei Pavlovich Tolstov. It happened in 1938 during exploration work. The area of the settlement is 120 hectares and as it turns out later, there was once a full-fledged city and a magnificent castle-palace, surrounded by an imposing defensive wall and square towers.
The excavations of the Toprak-Kala castle became a sensation and yielded a huge amount of interesting material, which made it possible to conclude that in the III century the city was the progressive capital of Ancient Khorezm, ancient culture flourished on this land, and the streets and premises were so well designed that Toprak -kala can be called - the kingdom of geometry.

⛪️The Holy Trinity Cathedral
🇰🇬Karakol, Kyrgyzstan
The church in Karakol has a rich history since the year of construction (1871). It was originally built with a felt covering, but from a large number of coming Orthodox believers, a brick building was built instead of a felt church. But in 1887 a strong earthquake destroyed the temple to the ground. And it was re-erected in 1895 with a 5-head bell tower. But then the church harbored difficulties during the Second World War and the Soviet Union, but now the church has been restored and is actively functioning.
The highlight of the church is the icon of the Mother of God, which is miraculous.
Central Asia is multifaceted and full of mysteries that are worth coming and seeing at least once in a life.

🇰🇿Almaty region, Kazakhstan
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, in the vicinity of Almaty, near the Issyk barrow, studied by the famous archaeologist Kemal Akyshev, an archaeological sensation occurred in which the remains of the Saka king, the “Golden Warrior”, which became the symbol of Kazakhstan, were discovered.
In the burial mound were found skilful handmade items: the parade armor of the buried warrior, the remnants of an iron sword and a dagger. Thanks to these subjects, researchers managed to create the appearance of the Saka warrior, as a result of the painstaking work.
Saki (translated from Persian — "giant men") — the ancient ancestors of the Kazakhs. In the works of Greek authors, they were artistically described as Asian Scythians (the word saka comes from the word "deer"), in other ancient sources — "flying horses."

Sher-Dor Madrasah
🇺🇿Samarkand, Uzbekistan
One of the religious buildings of the XVII century in Samarkand – the Sher-Dor Madrasah is part of the Registan architectural ensemble. For several centuries, the madrasah was a well-known Muslim educational institution, where outstanding philosophers and theologians studied.
The madrasah was built by order of Ashtarkhanid Yalantgush Bahadur on the site of the dismantled khanaka of Ulughbek in 1619-1636. The Samarkand architect Abdulzhabbor was involved in the construction, and the decoration was made by the master Muhammad Abbas. The design is made in the traditional Central Asian style, and the main facade impresses with a grand entrance portal topped with a pointed arch.
At first, the building was planned to be named after governor Yalangtush Bahadur. However, the people called the building "Sher-Dor", which translates as "the abode of lions". The madrasah got its modern name due to the unique decor on the tympanum of the front portal, which depicts a scene of a fantastic beast hunting in the guise of a snow leopard on a white gazelle in the rays of the rising sun.
Although according to the traditions of Muslims, it is impossible to depict animals or people in sacred places, but this madrasah has become an exception.
The image of predators hunting deer implies the need for students to chase knowledge, as lions chase their prey, and absorb wisdom, as lions eat captured animals." The person's face symbolizes the deity and warns: "you need to remember that you are not immortal, even if you are a predator." For almost three centuries, Sherdor was the most famous educational institution among Muslims.

🕌The architectural ensemble of Khodja Islam
🇺🇿Khiva, Uzbekistan
Ichan-Kala is the heart and soul of ancient Khiva. An open-air city and a unique repository of ancient architectural monuments. In the very center of Ichan-Kala there is a unique spiritual institution of the beginning of the XX century. This is the madrasah of Islam-Khoja. The architectural ensemble consists of the madrasah itself and a minaret with a height of almost 45 meters.
The initiator of the construction of the religious building in 1908 was a progressive figure of his time, Islam Khoja, who was also the father-in-law and chief vizier of the Khiva ruler Asfandiyarkhan.
Prominent masters and architects of the Khiva khanate worked on the construction of the madrasah, including the famous master Khudoibergan Khodji and the best masters – ornamentalists of that time.
According to the idea of the architects, 2 structures were built as a game of contrasts: the highest minaret on a small territory is adjacent to the smallest madrasah.
Inside the madrasa, you can see more than 40 prayer rooms and a large domed hall. The mihrab-prayer wall facing the Mecca is decorated with elegant majolica and ganch, and the walls are tiled with tiles and blue glaze. In 1910, the construction of the ensemble was completed.
The height of the minaret was 44.6 meters. It was one of the highest minarets in the East after the Kalyan minaret in Bukhara.Map

🦅Hunting bird
You must admit that no one remains indifferent when watching a berkutchi or a falconer having his pet on his arm and sitting on horseback. When you see how a master and his bird are working closely together, how a huge berkut is taking quarry or a falcon is circling the steppe in free flight and then returning on his master’s (kusbegi) arm – all these are taking your breath away.
Today on the territory of Kazakhstan there are several annual festivals, tournaments of hunters with their hunting birds. The largest festivals take place in Almaty region in Ilantau natural boundary next to Nura village, and Kansonar tournament in Akmola region. As a rule, today tournaments are like theatrical performances: as a quarry for hunting birds they use stuffed animals.

🏰Tash-Khauli palace
🇺🇿Khiva, Uzbekistan
This palace, which means ‘Stone House’, contains Khiva’s most sumptuous interior decoration, including ceramic tiles, carved stone and wood, and ghanch. Built by Allakuli Khan between 1832 and 1841 as a more splendid alternative to the Kuhna Ark, it’s said to have more than 150 rooms off nine courtyards, with high ceilings designed to catch any breeze.
All premises, adjoining the court yard, irrespective of their purpose, are decorated richly. A variety of majolica panel ornaments, wooden columns and marble carvings are complemented by ceiling paintings and court yard composition. The oblique geometry and exact symmetry of the official architecture as a whole, reminds us of the richest picture gallery. Ancient masters owned the secret of colour ceramic glazes "ishkor" manufacturing, whereby paints do not fade throughout the centuries.

Kalta Minor Minaret
🇺🇿Khiva, Uzbekistan
The Kalta Minor is an unfinished minaret located near the west entrance to the Ichan Kala (old city). It was commissioned in 1851 by Mohammed Amin Khan, the ruler of Khiva, as an architectural marvel intended to rise over 70 meters—supposedly high enough to see Bukhara in the distance to the east.
The Khan's untimely death while encamped on a Persian battlefield in 1855 put an end to the project when the minaret reached a mere 26 meters. However, even in unfinished form the structure is dazzling, covered from top to bottom with Khiva's signature blue-green tiles and various geometric patterns. A band of tiles near the top encircles the minaret with an inscription in nastaliq script, a calligraphic font commonly used for writing in Persian.
