To our loyal customers and all to the wonderful people that we have been honored to serve over the past 5 years, weβre sad to announce that Ki has closed its doors in Hamra pending the demolition of the building, but we are thrilled to have had this experience with the beautiful people of Beirut.
Anyone who has visited Ki knows that this was more than a simple cafΓ© and study space in Hamra. What started as a health-conscious coffee house transformed over the years into a space of community, laughter, solace, and good energy. This was a space that many loyal friends called their second home; a space that harbored the political, spiritual, academic, and societal discussions of our societies and a space where the discussion on Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, the LGBTQA+, and our global communities never ended. Here we laughed, studied, wrote, created, and thrived.
We hung the art of Beirut on our walls, and hosted the Poetry Night series to brings its poetry into our space. We bought from local vendors and hired local talents for all our graphic, service, and operating needs. We were, through and through, a Beirut endeavor.
We have witnessed our student patrons become doctors, pharmacists, architects, entrepreneurs, poets, musicians, and writers. We have seen friendships and intimate relationships grow. And we have seen business ideas planned, studied, and executed in our office spaces.
In a word: we witnessed the beauty of the hardworking and fierce youth of Beirut in action. And we have learned from you as much as you have continued to seek our shelter. For this, we are endlessly grateful and proud.
Thank you, beautiful people of Beirut, whether you are from here, a quirky floater inexplicably choosing to live in this crazy city, a refugee, an exile, or a tourist, for all your support and patronage and for the wonderful experience.
And of course, perhaps the greatest gratitude goes to those hardworking staff members that stood with us through the most difficult times that this city can offer; you who made Ki what it is with your energy and laughter. We know that our customers came back because of you. On and off the clock- your service and friendship was boundless. Thank you ππΌ

A special thank you to Richard Hanna who organized and managed the poetry series and made sure the music never stopped at KI; to the talented Hope Chahine whose art filled our space with life & color; to Alaa Kayali who donated a collection of books and helped us participate in a book exchange program that assisted in the teaching costs of a child refugee; and to Ali Fneich whose creative design of our menus and boards kept Ki's original concept of simple vibrance and who did it over again whenever we needed a fresh look.
We are keeping this page open as a record of all the moments we want to remember and space to continue to stay in touch.
We are excited for our future and yours!
