This morning we rose in the early hours of the day and scootered to our secret spot! We crossed the thin spit of land, wading through the cool sea. There, we climbed the rocks and waited in the dark with the fisherman until the sun rose. 🌅

Egg Hoopers! These are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and are best served with a spicy coconut sambol!
You can even have a hooper without the egg! 🍳

One of our two Master bedrooms. This beautiful room is set on the north side of the courtyard, with a large bathroom partially open to the sky. Both of these rooms face the courtyard and they also look onto separate small gardens of their own.
Our floating beds are great but we particularly love the yellow diamond floor! Everything designed by the owner!

Oh hey everyone! Rumour has it, it’s lunchtime? I’m ready!

And no, we didn’t add a filter! Tonight’s beautiful red sunset made our skies a perfect purple!

Two minute stroll away from the villa is Dickwella Beach where you can see the most magical sunsets.

Walk the length of the beach (a kilometre) and back as the sun goes to bed. Watch the fisherman rock on the waves for the last catch of the day, join an evening volleyball game or enjoy a fruity cocktail.

Our driver can take you around, stopping at local food spots, swimming holes, best views and more. Move around Sri Lanka knowing you can leave your bags at home, travel happily around with just a change of clothes and your swim stuff!

The feeling of coming home and flopping into the pool (and a drink!), out of the hustle and bustle is incredible! Back into the privacy of where Chris and her team will cook you up a well deserved traditional Sri Lanka meal!

🌅 HAPPY SATURDAY 🌅

Rise and shine to these delicious egg hoopers! These baskets of goodness can be had with anything you like! They’re super tasty with Saffron’s fresh Coconut Sambol making it a bowl of health!

If you’re not an egg kinda person, then the fresh fruit and fresh buffalo curd is my next favourite.

Or enjoy Chris’ freshly baked bread and croissants with local jams.

Basically you can have what you like but you have to try the hoopers!

Often it’s the people that make the place.

If you recognise this amazing woman, you’ll know that she spends her days making other people happy. Christobel (Chris), our manager, has many years of experience in hospitality, from private yachts to palatial residences. We are lucky to have her.

Chris is a wonderful cook with wide repertoire in the kitchen, from traditional Sri Lankan cuisine to other Asian and western dishes. She also makes a mean pizza.

Chris is also a mine of information; She will organise day trips and give you sound advice on almost anything!

Without her, Saffron wouldn’t be what it is today.

We are so lucky to have some of the most beautiful beaches near us! If you want beach bars, surfing crowds or to just walk for hours alone, we’ll take you to the best and secret spots!
Sri Lanka is one of the most incredible countries with sandy beaches, clear waters and palm-riddled mountains! we can recommend a full itinerary for you holiday!
