Winter in Morocco!
Happy because the snow water can be collected for the irrigation of the crops next year. Something that is very important in a changing and drier climate.
But the snow also means that many people are -literally- out in the cold. The houses do not have central heating and some people do not even have homes. Or houses without windows.
Especially in the mountains, the situation is dire.
This year we are collecting money again to provide the mountain people with warm clothes and fuel. Would you be able to help?

Hello from Sunrise Camp #sahara #desert #merzouga #holiday #morocco
This is the story of Fadma, (another Fadma than the last story we shared).
Fadma has a challenging life. Fadma is from a family of 5 siblings; she has 1 sister and 3 brothers.
It was hard for Fadma to adjust to life in a small mountain village, but without any education, connections, or money there is no way out.
And while her sister got married and started a family, Fadma lived her life according to her own rules. Rules that weren’t the rules of her family.
The family sent Fadma away. Which made life even more difficult for her. She faced illness on her own but luckily survived.
And she became a single mother of a lovely daughter.
Even though Fadma was considered an outcast she still got help from the people in the village.
Luckily Fadma's parents stepped in. And Fadma and her 7 years old daughter live in a room with her parents now. She adjusted her life and takes care of her daughter in the best way possible.
Now the borders are closed and the tourists are gone. This means there is no income in the village anymore. So no one has money to help out Fadma and her daughter and her family.
But thanks to your donations Fadma and her family have enough money to make it through the winter.
Thank you!
So far we managed to help 39 families with enough money (about € 165,- per family) to make it through the winter. Please help us help more families like Fadma’s family by donating to https://gofund.me/26f22097

This is the story of Fadma.
Fadma is a married woman who lives in the High Atlas Mountains.
Unfortunately -due to health issues- her husband can’t work anymore. So Fadma took care of the income of the family. For both her husband, herself, and her child. Fadma pays for the education of her child too.
Fadma used to work in the local hammam. She cleaned in the hammam and took care of the wood of the hammam to put on the fire. Make sure that the hammam is heated.
Due to covid, no one can pay for the Hamman anymore and the hammam is closed. Leaving Fadma and her family without income.
Thanks to your help we are able to help Fadma and her family through the winter.
With temperatures below 0 degrees, Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) live in the mountains is harsh. The houses don’t have central heating and money for food, clothes and medical care Is scarce.
Now the Moroccan borders closed again there is no income from tourism at all. Leaving the people unemployed. And people like Fadma without income.
Please help us help more families like Fadma’s family by donating to https://gofund.me/26f22097
Thanks to your help and the help of the TUI Care Foundation we managed to help 39 families through the winter so far. We hope to help more!

Ouarzazate (وارزازات, ⵡⴰⵔⵣⴰⵣⴰⵜ), nicknamed 'the door of the desert'. For a long time, Ouarzazate was a small crossing point for African traders on their way to northern Morocco and Europe. Now it is a city in south-central Morocco. The Ouarzazate area is a noted film-making location, with Morocco's biggest studios inviting many international companies to work here. Films such as Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Mummy (1999), Gladiator (2000), and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2011) were shot here, as was part of the TV series Game of Thrones.
