Happy Lunar New Year!
Mongolians are celebrating the Lunar New Year a.k.a Asian New Year: One of the most celebrated and largest holidays of Mongolia.
During the holiday, for several days (typically up to seven days) Mongolians spend the holiday visiting/hosting their families starting from their parents or the eldest family members.
This year however, Mongolians are celebrating the holiday at home due to the strict quarantine and travel bans by the government to curb community spread of Coronavirus.
This coming year is the Year of Ox: second of the twelve animals assigned for repeating cycle of 12 years (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig).
Mongolians believe the Year of Ox represents hard work, fortune and wealth.
We at Mongolia Trekking wish you a health and prosperity in the Year of Ox.
