TO PROTECT AND SERVE VIVA LA MEXICO
Let’s say you only have a level of awareness / understanding / experience of police presence in the states of the typical blue uniform, with all the guns, bells and whistles.
Now let’s say to come to Mexico and you see the police force looking like the attached photo. This image may have you shutter in your boots just a bit more than typical. Quite honestly, the first time I saw a group of officers after we first crossed the border into Mexico, my heart did a double sink. As a matter of fact, the team of officers were riding in a blacked out pick-up truck – the bed of the truck was caged, so the officers were standing in the back – guns drawn and aimed forward with their finger on the trigger.
Now… Dig this… when we see the police here, our heart rate does not even skip a beat. As a matter of fact, we breathe a bit easier. In the states… not so much. Now, for those of you that want to pop off in your head about, “well just follow the law”, I’m going to bid you to have a seat. As a matter of fact… have several seats.
My husband is elegant, well-spoken, handsome … Very Metro Male Manicured. Custom suits, Italian shoes, etc., etc., etc. In the states, we lived on estate grounds overlooking the Chattahoochee River Reserve. He is one of Atlanta’s “Whos – Who” … business man, philanthropist, industry leader.
I give you this resume not to impress anyone, but impress upon everyone – with all this going on, my husband is still A Black Man living in America. When he walked out the door, my prayers covered him to walk back in our home the same way he walked out.
Here in Mexico – like a kid, Cedric gets on his bike to ride the Malecon, stops at all his local markets, does whatever he does and I do not even give it a second or third thought – AND NEITHER DOES HE.
Every time we end a call with friends and family back in the states, they always say, “Please Be Careful”. We just chuckle and give them our love, cause we really want to tell them, “No… YOU Please Be Careful”.
OUR skintones are a blessing here.
Just thought I would share a thought.
Looking forward to seeing you Real Soon!
