Since many people who want to come to Tulum, Playa del Carmen or Cancun have questions about the current situation in the region, we try to respond most of them in this post.
1. Are there any travel restrictions?
No. Visitors of any nationality are allowed to enter Mexico by air. Comercial flights connecting Mexico with US, Canada and Europe do operate.
2. Is there a quarantine?
Most of the restrictions were lifted in September. Health and safety protocols have to be followed but there is no quarantine.
3. Is the use of face masks mandatory?
You need to use a face mask to enter any public space, like a store, a bank, a bus station, etc. They might ask you to have a mask on when you enter a restaurant but when you get a table you take it of.
4. Are the bars and nightclubs opened?
Restaurants and bars are opened with 30% occupancy, nightclubs remain closed.
5. Are the beaches opened?
Yes. Officially.
6. Are the cenotes, ruins and other tourist attractions opened?
Yes.
7. Is it safe to travel?
You decide. Right now Tulum and Playa del Carmen look pretty much the same as before the quarantine. Restaurants are full. There are plenty of people on the streets. If it was unsafe in terms of health all these people would be dead, which does not happen, so our advice is Keep Calm and Enjoy Your Vacations 😎🏖️☀️🍹
