n in the fun aboard a real 12-meter sailboat that was a winner in the America's Cup - be part of the crew on Dennis Conner's world winning Stars and Stripes or True North IV. Start this exciting adventure by hopping onboard a ferry in Playa del Carmen. Enjoy fantastic scenery for 40 minutes as you glide across the Caribbean. Sit up top and feel the ocean breezes, or below in the main cabin with large viewing windows and air conditioning. The ferry has facilities and serves drinks and snacks for your comfort. Consumables are not included in the price, but you are welcome to purchase. When you arrive, the meeting point for this excursion is just a short walk away. You will get checked in with the experienced sailing staff and assigned to be part of the crew on either the Stars and Stripes or the True North IV. Both boats sailed in the actual America's Cup sailing race. American sailing legend Dennis Conner won the 1992 America's Cup race on the Stars and Stripes! And now is your chance to experience the same excitement in a real sailing regatta race. These boats are also known as 12 meter or metre boats. You will receive expert instruction from the English speaking, experienced sailing staff on the position you are assigned. It might be helping grind the winch or man the line or maybe help with the stopwatch...you can select the level of difficulty including just relaxing and watching. The captain of your assigned boat will raise the sails and maneuver the boat out through the clear water with the other boat close behind. The two boats will line up and then the race is on! Each of the guests aboard will also be guaranteed the opportunity at having their turn behind the wheel. When the race is completed, there will be a small celebration with rum punch to toast the victors. There is also time to browse the gift shop and look at the photos that were taken throughout the excursion. When you are finished, you can explore the island, or hop back on a ferry for the ride back to Playa del Carmen.
