CHEST OPEN AND RELEASE SHOULDER PAIN/SHOULDER STIFFNESS
Neck, shoulder and chest pain can be acute or chronic, If you spend the day slumped over a desk, you may have experienced neck and shoulder pain. This common type of pain may be caused by poor posture and overuse, and the more you use your neck and shoulder muscles, the more tired and vulnerable to strain they become.
Isolated shoulder pain can be complicated to diagnose and treat, as the shoulder is a large joint with many working parts. Muscles and tendons of the upper arm, collectively known as the “rotator cuff”, may be the culprit. Lifting, repetitive overhead activities, or a traumatic event such as a fall, can cause a rotator cuff strain or tear, resulting in mild to severe pain. Avoid shoulder injuries by strengthening your shoulder muscles and doing gentle range-of-motion exercises. Stick yoga can help you develop a home exercise program.

FUNCTIONAL BACKBEND- BASIC FUNDAMENTALS TO BACKBEND
Come practice a Functional Backbend yoga approach; where Master James will be imparting his Functional Anatomy knowledge on skeletal variations and tensile aspects which affects Backbend practices. He will be sharing aspects on postural alignment in backbends exercises & the importance of the integration of axial joints mobility(shoulder girdle & pelvic girdle) along with the spinal movement in backbends. He will also be highlighting the importance of releasing tensed diaphragm & psoas and establishing their elasticity for backbend practices & how it affects our breathing in backbends. There will also be a sharing on the core element aspects of bandha to ensure a safe Backbend practice.
This 75 minutes practice is suitable for both beginners and current practitioners as Master James will be narrowing down all the basic fundamentals to progress oneself in Backbend practice.
This will be a Hatha Vinyasa class where the class will be sequenced to prep your body to a final Backbend pose.
Kindly prepare 2 yoga blocks, 1 yoga belt and 1 Big Bath towel. (Note: kindly come empty stomach or at least 5 hours of digestion as one section of the class will involve a diaphragm & psoas massage)

ABOUT MATTHEW KEMP
Matthew has practised Yoga since he was a teenager. He lived in India for 7 years where he learned the yoga technique in Shivanada. He studied further Pranayama, Meditation and Yoga Asanas at the KryaYoga Ashram under Swami Shanker Ananda Giri. He also studied Ashtanga Yoga at Mysore.
He has been in Malaysia since 2006 where he teaches intermediate and advance level classes.
Since 2009 he has developed a strong interest in the Tripsichore technique (movement with breath) under the teaching of Edward Clarke. It is the key component of his teachings today.

MANDALA FLOW
Mandala FLOW is a dynamic flow established on the 4 basic elements of the universe: FIRE, WATER, EARTH and AIR. This flow connects each element with a specific target:
Fire = spinal twists
Water = hips
Earth = hamstrings
Air = backbends
As we move consciously with the breath around the 4 corners of the mat, mandala vinyasa can resemble a soft dance. The flow can be as challenging as you would like it to be.
Come and explore as you experience a whole body flow! Feel free to get lost and find your way again. Just show up and learn as much about yourself on and off the mat. This is your yoga, your practice.
