Space Observation Learning (SOL) is a Namibian company founded in 2009 to offer astronomy education to schools and learning institutions, and star gazing for the general public and the tourists visiting Namibia. In addition, we conduct astronomy training for tour guides and other persons active in the industry, trade in quality telescopes and other astronomy related equipment, and also offer astro
photography opportunities. Exclusive private star gazing sessions are also offered. The Executive Director of SOL, Rob Johnstone, is an astronomer and recognised astronomy educator through the Universe Education Forum Programme, endorsed and accredited by NASA and the Harvard Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics. Space Observation Learning is a committed Namibian astronomy service provider. As a company, we pride ourselves for quality service provision and no query is too big or small for us to attend to. Due to its climate, geographical location and the lack of light pollution, Namibia is rated third best star gazing location in the world and is currently the only country in Africa with an officially recognised International Dark Sky Reserve. SOL offers unique tailor made star gazing evenings to showcase the natural wonders of the night sky. All our astronomical equipment is portable and we gladly travel to any venue requested. Through our state of the art GPS guided 8, 10, 12 and 14 Inch Meade astronomical telescopes, we are offer you an opportunity to discover the Jewels of the Namibian night sky. You will be taken on a guided tour of our night sky, during which you will observe a treasure chest of deep sky objects e.g. planets, such as Jupiter with its 4 Galilean moons and Saturn’s majestic rings, distant galaxies, nebulae and globular star clusters, to mention but a few.
