Every time I step outdoors, I kinda wonder how colonialists were able to pull off all of the things we see and appreciate right now from over 60years ago. You will see their structure, their thinking, their actions and ideas.

And in 2024, we’re still discovering the things they did and most of them have been vandalized by us.

I don’t know how else to explain this, but it happens every damn time. We’re specialists in destruction and looting what belongs to the everyone else.

The Enugu I see: The future of tourism in Enugu.

Let’s talk about the perks of tourism for Enugu.
Tourism can bring in a bunch of cash that gets pumped back into the local economy. Visitors spending their money on local businesses, crafts, and services can really give the city a boost, creating job opportunities and improving infrastructure. That means a better quality of life for everyone in Enugu.

But that’s not all. Embracing tourism means embracing and preserving Enugu’s cultural and natural treasures.

It’s about celebrating local crafts, delicious food, and unique art forms. This not only keeps Enugu’s heritage alive but also supports local talents, making sure that everyone can benefit from the city’s growth.

LETTER TO FROM A CONCERNED CUSTOMER

Good evening, sir/ma
I hope this letter finds you well.
I just want to bring to your notice that you are truly saving lives in Enugu. In case nobody has told you that yet, aunty I want to thank you for helping us with good and affordable food options.

However, there’s this girl who has been on the queue for almost 30mins now, abeg give am food, con serve me too 🥺🥺

Number two sir, you people should try and be freezing your bottle water sir. You know the weather in Enugu looks like we’re closer to hell fire. You can’t give us hot food and hot water too when no be tea or coffee.

Number three, I want to specially thank you for that branch in Thinkers Corner. You may not understand what you have done for us but the person that brought that idea should have his/her salary increased by 50% sir. Sort it out from my food next week 😑😴

God bless Ntachi Osa and the good people that buy food there every day.
Finally, I think I am speaking for everyone in Enugu when I say you should try and start opening on Sunday 😩😩😩😩
There’s no burial or wedding and we usually starve ooo or left at the mercy of these expensive food places 😭😭

The Tale of the two rivers that never mix.

Have you heard about the two rivers that flow side-by-side but never mix?

There was a couple, one day, the husband noticed she had put a password on her phone.

He was planning to ask what had prompted that when a Snapchat notification popped up on his wife’s phone.

The message?
“I’ll bring the special toy”

Everything just stopped working. She asked what was the matter after some minutes just sitting and staring at the bedroom fan.
The real gist?

The man she was cheating with was married to another woman and they have three children.

Oguta Lake is a lean finger lake formed by deposits of clay, sand, and silt.

At 8.05km long and 2.41 km wide, it is the largest natural lake in Imo, and of course South-East Nigeria.

Water flows into it mainly from Njaba river, Uju, Awbana and Urashi rivers.

Two of these rivers flow side-by-side, parallel to each other, without ever coming together.

You can see it almost immediately on the surface of the lake.

One flows in a shade of green(Ogbuide, the cheating wife), the other is brown(Urashi, the faithful man).

The couple had a quarrel after the wife cheated, since then, they have flowed separately.

The two are now deities; man and wife have become god and goddess.

There are two separate shrines where worshippers invoke and offer supplication to the divorced couple; one on each side of the river.

Interesting thing, we were advised not to fetch the water nor even try to mix them. I don’t still understand their reason though. When I visit again, I will ask proper questions.

Is this place worth visiting?
Yes!

At the time of this visit, it was very safe, only bad roads.

Ngwo Pine Forest, Enugu. The forest hosts a limestone cave sculpted with a small waterfall which forms a shallow pool at the bottom of the cave. The Pines were originally planted to fight erosion in the area at the time. The PRODA Workshop was a place where the igbo children produced and manufactured things that challenged the whites. Chief Acho, the veteran coal miner laments how the PRODA workshop in Enugu lies in waste. This workshop used to be the pride of the Eastern economy. Producing very many household and general wares like ceramics of all sorts, flower vases, jugs, WC 🚽, iron smelting and very many other stuff Did you know that the popular "Ogbunigwe" (also called Ojukwu Bucket) was produced in this workshop? Oh well, that history class was good. The Ogbunigwe was a series of weapon systems including command detonation mines, improvised explosive devices, and rocket propelled missiles, mass-produced by the Republic of Biafra and used against Nigeria between 1967 and 1970 in the Biafran War was manufactured here very many years ago. We will take you round the facility which has now been vandalised as we toured last weekend. .. Watch out! .. .. .. Yours, FTB
