I still cannot get enough of this view of Stonehenge.

A prehistoric monument on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, two miles west of Amesbury.

It consists of an outer ring of vertical sarsen standing stones, each around 13 feet high, seven feet wide, and weighing around 25 tons, topped by connecting horizontal lintel stones.

Mr. Sadow was traveling in Puerto Rico with his family, lugging two heavy suitcases.
At San Juan Airport, he saw a porter use a wheeled luggage rack to effortlessly move other luggage.

When he returned home, he feverishly tinkered, attaching wheels to suitcases.

Sadow tried for months to interest stores in carrying his invention, without success. Finally, a Macy’s executive decided to take a chance on the wheeled suitcase. For a brief moment, the rest was history, with Sadow getting United States patent 3,653,474 for “Rolling Luggage” in 1972. But the patent was broken by competitors within a couple of years.

Now companies large and small offer their own versions of wheeled luggage.

When you feed pigeons, you are not doing them a favor. They lose their natural ability to scavenge and survive on their own. Pigeon over population leads to overcrowded, unsanitary conditions and produces sick and injured birds. A smaller flock is healthier and does less damage

Albert Einstein once said that a ship is always safe at shore, but that is not what it’s built for, and I think that really resonates with us all in a way. It is to show that though we may always be safe when docked up and comfortable, it isn’t our purpose.

We’re all ships, vessels, carriers of purpose, and yet we find ourselves sitting in the same safe place that stunts our growth and movement simply because we know nothing can hurt us. Perhaps your docking area resembles a desk at a job you’ve been in for years and seen no growth, or within a person that doesn’t enable your progression, perhaps a comfortable pastime, masking the fact that it is a distraction from the still, boring waters that lie beneath you.

Change is inevitable, but our purpose is undeniable and we can only embrace the real us when we allow that purpose to grow, even if it means changing our routines; our careers, adulthood and life are some of the most amazing adventures known to man, but yet we find ourselves getting comfortable and turning our maybe’s into later, and our laters into never. I think that it’s time to change that, to remove all anchors and see what lies beyond the horizon, or at least further from the bay.
