But Abram replied, "O Sovereign LORD, HOW CAN I BE SURE that you will give it to me?" (Genesis 15:8nlt).
Abram needed to have a strong confirmation "GUARANTEE" of his faith in the promise for the sake of his posterity. God responded by calling for a BLOOD COVENANT in Genesis 15:9-18.

The Guarantee and confirmation that God's promises will certainly come to pass in your life is the BLOOD COVENANT of the Lord Jesus Christ; the lamb of God that was slain (Rev 5:12,13:8,5:6).

I believe that God demonstrated through this verse of SCRIPTURE, "ahead of time" that it is only through BLOOD that all things are Purified; and that WITHOUT THE SHEDDING OF BLOOD (of The Lord Jesus Christ) THERE IS NO REMISSION/FORGIVENESS OF SINS.(Heb 9:22nkjv).
God chose to cover Adam and Eve with the skin of an animal here, thereby demonstrating two things:--
1. It is indeed through the blood of a sacrificial Lamb that the sins of mankind will be taken away; (John 1:29).
2. God will yet again cover mankind with His all-sufficient righteousness to be able to stand in His presence without guilt and condemnation. (Isaiah 61:10, Rom 8:1-2).
